Communities In Schools of Washington is part of the nation's largest and most effective organization dedicated to keeping kids in school and helping them succeed in life. In Washington state, we operate as a network of 11 local, independent affiliates serving over 80,000 students in 9 counties and 26 school districts. Our affiliates work closely with schools, social services, businesses and volunteers in their communities to connect young people with the resources they need to learn and grow: mentors and tutors, after-school care, family services, health care, food, clothing, school supplies and more so they can focus on learning. As part of a community that cares for students, we believe that kids can overcome barriers and develop plans for a bright future. The state office of Communities In Schools of Washington strengthens the network by providing affiliates with support in operations, service delivery, local resource development, and public relations and marketing. In partnership with our affiliate network, our goal is to reach the greatest number of students possible with the highest quality of support services.

COMMUNITY OUTREACH, INC.
Corvallis, Oregon

The Community Outreach is an ecumenical non-profit ministry that has existed in the Sioux Falls area for over 30 years. The ministry was founded by local clergy who saw a need to supplement the welfare programs state and local entities offered. The ministry strives to fill in some of the gaps left by the public welfare system, while personally relating to and caring for each person who comes to us. We are generously supported by churches, the United Way, businesses and private donations … and have become well known in the area as a place to go for help. We serve more than 8000 people per year in four main areas: 1. Crisis Care financial assistance for rent, utilities, and work-related transportation; 2. Information and referral to other social service agencies (We act as a clearing house for social services information.); and 3. Genesis Mentoring Program works by teaching financial management skills through adult mentoring to empower a new beginning. 4.
