U.S. Job Openings Surpass 11 Million

According to the Labor Department, there were 10.4 million open positions in November, a five-month high. By contrast, there were just over 11 million open positions in December.

The ratio of vacancies to unemployed individuals increased from 1.7 in November to a near-record high of 1.9 in December.

By many standards, the employment market remains tight. Unemployment benefit requests are at pre-pandemic levels, and the January jobs report is anticipated to indicate continued, record low unemployment, and consistent hiring.
