Altoona Beauty School’s fine reputation has been maintained since its establishment in August 1956. It was owned and operated by Virginia Stoudenour until May 1978. In 1978 Mr. Richard Koop purchased the establishment. He operated the school until March 1994. In March 1994 the establishment was purchased by Linzi J. Biesinger. Mrs. Biesinger has vast experience in hairstyling, shop management, teaching, and financial aid services. Mrs. Biesinger incorporated Altoona Beauty School in 1995. She currently is the Chief Executive Officer. Our objective at Altoona Beauty School is to prepare our students for successful careers in today’s modern world of Cosmetology. To achieve these goals, we have a team of instructors, who are licensed by the Pennsylvania State Board of Cosmetology. Our staff has had many years teaching experience as well as salon experience. The staff attends various seminars and workshops throughout the year to stay on top of today’s ever changing fashion and hair trends. Some of our many teaching aids here at Altoona Beauty School are Power Point Presentations, DVDs and video cassettes comprising of cuts, coloring, perming, styling, make up, skin care, and nail techniques complied through the years. MAX Teaching with Reading and Writing is a team of professionals, led by Todd Luke, President, and Director of Staff Development. Each consultant working with MAX Teaching is prepared to develop teachers through hands-on workshops and modeling of research-proven classroom strategies in reading and writing for learning. Teachers will leave a workshop with many strategies that can be applied right away in their own classrooms. These strategies help students better learn course content while improving students'​ abilities in the communication skills. It is best to schedule at least two days of staff development so that the teachers get to experience and practice 20-30 MAX Teaching strategies among themselves with MAX Teaching team members modeling and explaining the process. This staff development should be followed up with classroom modeling. The Follow-up includes one or more days when we come into the classrooms and model the MAX Teaching strategies in the classrooms with real students in the target school, using the school's own reading materials from the subject matter that originally was to be taught that day. Initiated and ran weekly meetings to prepare for the week and lay the groundwork for the week. Worked directly with a team of young individuals to prepare them for the real world.
