Elder Services of Worcester Area, Inc.'s mission is to help Elders, Disabled Individuals, and their Caregivers obtain essential services so that they can remain at home with dignity and independence for as long as safely possible. Elder Services of Worcester Area, Inc. is a private, not-for-profit agency and is one of twenty-seven Aging Services Access Points in Massachusetts. Building on more than two decades of experience, our organization is an expert in community based, long term care, assisting elders over the age of sixty and younger disabled individuals in the Greater Worcester area since 1974. Service Area: Auburn, Barre, Boylston, Grafton, Hardwick, Holden, Leicester, Millbury, New Braintree, Oakham, Paxton, Rutland, Shrewsbury, West Boylston & Worcester. The Protective Services Program also includes Northboro, Southboro, Westboro, Marlboro & Hudson. The Agency and its programs receive funds administered through the Massachusetts Executive Office of Elder Affairs; and federal financial support under the Older Americans Act provided by the Central Massachusetts Agency on Aging. Other funders include the United Way of Central Massachusetts, Greater Worcester Community Foundation, local Councils on Aging & governments, participant donations, grants, foundations and individual support. For over five decades, Fidelco has bred the German Shepherd working dog. Since 1981, Fidelco has trained and placed more than 1,450 German Shepherd guide dogs across North America. Each Fidelco German Shepherd guide dog takes two years, 15,000 hours, and $65,000 to breed, train, and place. Thanks solely to the compassionate generosity of its donors, and the dedicated work of its staff and volunteers, all Fidelco guide dogs are given to clients at no cost. Fidelco pioneered In-Community Placement in the United States and trains all clients in the communities where they live and work. Fidelco provides 24/7 client support for the entire working life of its guide dogs – typically 10 years. Fidelco has also placed hundreds of its German Shepherd Dogs with law enforcement agencies, first responders, search and rescue, and missing child recovery organizations to help protect our fellow citizens and keep our communities safe.
