AgeSpan, formerly Elder Services of the Merrimack Valley and North Shore, is a private nonprofit agency established in 1974 to help people in northeast Massachusetts maintain their highest levels of independence, health, and safety as they age. AgeSpan serves as a trusted resource, connecting people of all ages and abilities and their caregivers with impartial information, quality services, and vigorous advocacy to help them lead fulfilling lives in the community. AgeSpan is a designated federal Area Agency on Aging (AAA), a Massachusetts Aging Service Access Point (ASAP), and elder protective service agency.

Southern New Hampshire Services, Inc. (SNHS) is a private non-profit corporation chartered in the State of New Hampshire, May 21, 1965 to serve as the Community Action Agency for Hillsborough County in compliance with the Economic Opportunity Act of 1964. From 1965 through 1969, SNHS was known as the Community Action Agency for Hillsborough County and served the City of Nashua and the twenty-nine towns. In 1969 the organization became the Community Action Agency for the City of Manchester as well. In 1974 the agency’s name was changed to Southern New Hampshire Services, Inc. In July, 2011, Rockingham Community Action (RCA), the Community Action Agency serving Rockingham County, was merged with Southern New Hampshire Services. SNHS had served as the administrative agent for RCA since October, 2008. As a result of this merger SNHS now provides services to residents of both Hillsborough and Rockingham counties. As a Community Action Agency, it is SNHS’ purpose to provide social service programs and advocacy activities for the economically disadvantaged, elderly, youth and other specialized populations in the organization’s service area. SNHS operates 64 programs, contracting with the Federal, State and local governments as well as other social service agencies and private entities. The programs offered include Child Care, Early Head Start, Head Start, Women Infants and Children (WIC) Nutrition Program, Commodity Supplemental Food Program (CSFP), Energy Assistance, Weatherization, Asset Development, Supportive Housing for the Homeless, Homelessness Prevention programs, Retired Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP), as well as several initiatives under the Workforce Investment Act. Supported by City of Portsmouth and U.S. Housing and Urban Development Community Development Block Grant Program.

The Opportunity Alliance is a non-profit that focuses on building communities. We are a community action agency headquartered in South Portland, Maine. Our service area is centered in Cumberland County with several programs extending into neighboring counties, and we operate a few statewide programs. In the past year, we served over 20,000 community members. Our mission is to work with people to build better lives and stronger communities. We provide advocacy, leadership, and support to identify the goals and address the needs of individuals, families, and communities. We believe positive change is possible.

Founded in 1965, Community Concepts is a Community Action Agency and a 501c(3) non-profit organization whose mission is to strengthen individuals, families and communities in Western Maine by providing diverse programs, engaging in strategic partnerships, and through advocacy that addresses the barriers to promote economic opportunities for all. We meet our mission by helping children prepare for the future, building family stability and growth, providing home ownership and other housing opportunities, and stimulating economic and community development. KVCAP is a non-profit community action program which has been providing services to the people of Kennebec and Somerset counties for over 40 years. We offer a variety of services geared towards helping our clients achieve economic and social self-sufficiency. Each year, thousands of residents access KVCAP services to assist them in their struggle to overcome the barriers of poverty. Many of our services are available to people of all income levels.

For over fifty years, York County Community Action Corporation has been providing services and presenting opportunities to support the economic, social, educational, physical and emotional wellbeing of York County residents. Guided by the principles outlined in the preamble to the Economic Opportunity Act of 1964, to “eliminate the paradox of poverty in the midst of plenty,” YCCAC believe that all individuals deserve the opportunity to live full and meaningful lives, with a warm and safe place to call home, reliable transportation, affordable health care, nutritious food and, above all, a sense of purpose within a safe and supportive community.

The Community Action Program Belknap-Merrimack Counties, Inc. (CAPBMCI, CAPBM, CAP-BM, BMCAP) is a New Hampshire-based 501(c)(3) private, nonprofit organization. The agency was established in 1965 under the provisions of the Equal Opportunity Act of 1964. Under this Act, over twelve hundred Community Action Agencies (CAA) were established nationwide. The primary mission of the organization is to work with low-income families, the elderly, and individuals with disabilities to assist them in their efforts to become or remain financially and socially independent. The Agency accomplished this task by providing a broad array of services that are locally defined, planned, and managed. The agency sponsors and manages seventy-three (73) programs designed to meet the needs of children, families, single parents, and the elderly. Without the services provided by our agency, many local residents would be without a means to provide for their basic needs, including food and shelter. The agency is funded by Federal, State, county, and local funds (37 cities and towns in Belknap and Merrimack Counties). The agency receives United Way grants, foundation and charitable grant funds, fees for service, private business donations, and donations from individuals.
