In 1961 Doug Ireland joined Capital Sanitary as the company accountant. Due to various circumstances, Doug moved into the world of sales to help fill a void. In 1976 Doug purchased Capital Sanitary. In 1982 our second location, Carroll Cleaning, was purchased. The year was 1993 when the company survived the great flood. The company pulled together and with the help of employees, families, friends and representatives from other distributors had us back in business in record time. In 2007 Capital Sanitary moved to a new home in Des Moines gaining ware- house space and bringing all the products under one roof. With newly remod- eled offices, everyone found their new home. In 2009 our third location was added in Cedar Rapids, IA. In 2011 Doug announced that his oldest son who had been working in the business since his teen years would be made President of Capital Sanitary. Scott has filled many roles in the company including warehouse, purchasing, sales and operations. Our Omaha Nebraska location was opened in 2012 bring us new opportuni- ties in the market. In 2014, Capital celebrated its 75th year in business and looks forward to continuing many more years of services to its market area. On March 14, 2016 Capital Sanitary Supply acquired Dubuque based Weber Paper Company. The acquisition allows for additional growth and better coverage in northeast Iowa, southwest Wisconsin and northwest Illinois. We now carry a broader line of foodservice and industrial packaging supplies.
