Founded in 1965, Capstone Community Action improves the lives of Vermonters in need by providing opportunities, education, and vital assistance. By breaking down the barriers that prevent people from thriving, we offer the hope people need, the dignity everyone deserves, and a better community for all. Capstone Community Action is part of a nationwide network of community action agencies (CAA) established by the Economic Opportunity Act of 1964 in order to fight America’s War on Poverty. Today, there are nearly 1,000 CAAs across the United States. CAAs are a primary source of support for Americans who are living in poverty in both rural and urban areas. Capstone Community Action is one of five CAAs in Vermont. Capstone Community Action (formerly known as Central Vermont Community Action Council) has served low-income residents of Lamoille, Orange, and Washington Counties and nine communities in Windsor, Addison, and Rutland Counties. Over the years, Capstone has earned a reputation for leadership in education on poverty issues, advocacy on behalf of low-income families, and developing innovative strategies and programs to reduce poverty in Vermont. As a result, we rebranded in 2014 from Central Vermont Community Action Council, Inc. to Capstone Community Action, Inc. As a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization, we provide a wide offering of programs and services for low to moderate income Vermonters aimed at reducing poverty and creating prosperity. The core source of funding for CAAs comes from the Community Services Block Grant (CSBG) which channels federal funds through the states to local agencies to fight poverty and promote self-sufficiency. Nationally, CSBG funding accounts for less than 10 percent of CAA funding. We use these federal dollars to build and attract additional investments in their programs from state, local, and private sources.

Mission The Champlain Housing Trust is a community land trust that supports strong, vital communities in northwest Vermont through the development and stewardship of permanently affordable homes and associated community assets. What We Do The Champlain Housing Trust serves the people and communities of Chittenden, Franklin and Grand Isle Counties. CHT's program activities include homebuyer education and counseling, foreclosure prevention, permanently affordable homeownership, low-interest rehab loans, affordable rentals and property management, governance services to housing cooperatives, and real estate development. Our History Burlington Community Land trust (BCLT) and Lake Champlain Housing Development Corporation (LCHDC) were each founded in 1984 with the financial support of the city of Burlington in partnership with neighboring communities and citizen groups. BCLT focused on neighborhood improvement and expanding homeownership and LCHDC focused on rental housing production. Both groups were charged with producing and maintaining permanently affordable housing - be it rental or homeownership- for low income individuals and families. By merging in 2006 they combined their strengths to form Champlain Housing Trust to comprehensively serve the affordable housing and community development needs of Chittenden, Franklin and Grand Isle Counties.

AGE-WELL is a pan-Canadian network of industry, non-profit organizations, government, care providers, caregivers, end-users, and academic partners working together using high-quality research to drive innovation and create technologies and services that benefit older adults. Our vision is to harness and build upon the potential of emerging and advanced technologies in areas such as artificial intelligence (AI), e-health, information communication technologies (ICTs), and mobile technologies to stimulate technological, social, and policy innovation. We aim to help older Canadians maintain their independence, health and quality of life through accessible technologies that increase their safety and security, support their independent living, and enhance their social participation.

The Vermont Association for the Blind and Visually Impaired (VABVI), a non-profit organization founded in 1926 with the assistance of Helen Keller, is the only private agency to offer training, services, and support to visually impaired Vermonters from birth to end of life. Each year we serve over 1,500 clients. Our mission is to enable Vermonters whether blind or visually impaired, to be more independent, to cultivate adaptive skills and to improve their quality of life.

The Vermont Foodbank is the state’s largest hunger-relief organization, serving communities in all 14 counties of Vermont through a network of 215 food pantries, soup kitchens, shelters, senior centers and after-school programs. The Vermont Foodbank distributes 12 million pounds of food annually to as many as 153,000 Vermonters. The Vermont Foodbank, a member of Feeding America, is nationally recognized as one of the most effective and efficient nonprofits and food banks in the nation.

We connect you to benefits and services you may be eligible for such as personal care, household help, housing, transportation, mental health services, and legal support. We create an individualized plan for you and coordinate your services for your long-term support at home. We help family caregivers and loved ones to cope and thrive. We refer you to Meals on Wheels and nutrition services. We connect you with volunteers when extra help is needed. We advocate for aging persons in the community and before policy makers. We work hand in hand with our partners in healthcare to coordinate your care needs. We respond to your calls Monday-Friday about any aspect of aging services. Since 1972, CVCOA has supported aging persons in Central Vermont. We are one of five Area Agencies on Aging in Vermont authorized to provide services under the federal Older Americans Act.

Committee on Temporary Shelter (COTS) is a nonprofit organization nationally recognized as a model due to the successful outcomes of our programs. COTS provides emergency shelter, support services, prevention resources, and housing for those without homes or at risk of homelessness. We Believe: In the value and dignity of every human life That housing is a fundamental human right That emergency shelter is not the solution to homelessness Since 1982 COTS has been serving people experiencing homelessness and at risk Vermont community members in Chittenden County and beyond. We have multiple shelters to meet the needs of our individuals and families, including: the Waystation, our overnight shelter; the Daystation, our daytime drop in shelter; and our Family Shelters, specifically for parents with children. But we don't stop there...we go beyond providing safe shelters for those in need. We also have a team dedicated to supporting currently or at risk individuals experiencing homelessness with finding resources available to them through state and federal programs, assistance from other local community resources, and other additional support as needed. We believe in empowering these individuals to ensure a transition out of shelter housing into long term affordable housing is attainable and sustainable.

The Vermont Community Loan Fund creates opportunities that lead to healthy communities and financial stability for all Vermonters. VCLF is a mission-driven, community-focused alternative lender. We make loans to local businesses, community organizations & nonprofits, child care providers and developers of affordable housing who don’t qualify for a loan from a traditional lender. We combine our loans with financial consulting and business development services to make sure our borrowers have access to everything they need to succeed.

The mission of Lund is to help children thrive by empowering families to break cycles of poverty, addiction, and abuse. Lund offers hope and opportunity to Vermont families through education, treatment, family support, and adoption. Family is at the heart of everything we do! Our services include: -The only residential treatment program in Vermont where women can receive treatment for substance abuse and mental health issues and keep their children with them, -An education program for pregnant and parenting young women, early childhood education program, -Vermont's oldest and largest private adoption agency, reach up case management, job skills training, parenting and family education, outpatient clinical and counseling services, -Kids-A-Part a program that keeps mothers and their children connected during the mother's incarceration, transitional living services and other program that help Vermont's women and children to thrive.
