Touchstones Discussion Project: Building critical thinkers and collaborative leaders with discussion-based curricula. In 1984, three professors (tutors) from St. John’s College in Annapolis, Maryland, Geoffrey Comber, Nick Maistrellis, and Howard Zeiderman, joined forces to better understand the benefits and barriers encountered in discussion-based learning. Their inquiries led to the formation of the Touchstones Discussion Project. Today, Touchstones programs are implemented with many diverse demographics and in a wide range of educational and professional settings around the world. In their examination of the varied success of discussion-based learning in particular groups, the three founders intensively and thoroughly investigated the socio-behavioral and cultural habits that influence how people see themselves as viable and legitimate voices in discussion. They explored the particular impediments that typically hinder authentic discussion and shared inquiry as attempted in other “seminar” type programs. With our train-the-trainer technique and fully developed program curricula, Touchstones is readily used by educators and community leaders around the world to empower the populations they serve in English, Spanish, French, Haitian Kreyol, Arabic, and Burmese. Researched in Pittsburgh, Maryland, New York, and Delaware, Touchstones' proven results and highly engaging format have made it an attractive tool among adult groups as well. Today, our programs reflect 37 years of research and development from thousands of implementation sites. In Touchstones, participants find their voice and their dignity, experience the value of their own thinking, and discover a sense of belonging and purpose.

The Delaware Academy of Medicine is a private, nonprofit organization founded in 1930. Our mission is to enhance the well-being of our community through education and the promotion of public health. Our educational initiatives span the spectrum from consumer health education to specialty education conferences. We provide a meeting place for the medical and dental professions, and related organizations. In addition, we provide financial support for medical and dental students, as well as maintain the State of Delaware's medical and dental archives collections. The Delaware Academy of Medicine is a collaborative entity, closely engaged with area hospitals (ChristianaCare, St. Francis Hospital, Nemours, Tidal Health - Nanticoke, Bayhealth, and Beebe) and other academies including the Delaware Academy of Family Physicians, Delaware Academy of Physician Assistants, Delaware Chapter of the American College of Surgeons, and the Delaware Nurses Association. We also partner with the Delaware Health Science Alliance and the Widener University School of Law, as well as other specialty societies including the Delaware State Dental Society.

Lori's Hands builds mutually beneficial partnerships between community members with chronic illness and college students, fostering empathy, connection, and resilience. Students provide practical assistance to support community members' independence at home, and community members share their health and life experiences to support students' learning. Lori's Hands envisions a more equitable world in which every person can age with dignity and interconnection in their community and in which every person's strengths are appreciated and shared.

"FIRST STEPS – Der Deutsche Nachwuchspreis"​ wird seit 2000 jährlich an herausragende Abschlussfilme von Studentinnen und Studenten der Filmschulen in den deutschsprachigen Ländern verliehen. Der Preis präsentiert der Branche das hohe kreative Potenzial des Nachwuchses und erleichtert den Absolventinnen und Absolventen die "ersten Schritte"​ in den Beruf. Der Deutsche Nachwuchspreis FIRST STEPS wurde 1999 als private Initiative der Filmwirtschaft von den Produzenten Bernd Eichinger und Nico Hofmann ins Leben gerufen und gilt als renommiertester Preis für Abschlussfilme aus Deutschland, Österreich und der Schweiz. Er wird veranstaltet von der Deutschen Filmakademie in Partnerschaft mit ARRI, Mercedes-Benz, ProSiebenSat.1 TV Deutschland, UFA und Warner Bros.. Allen gemeinsam ist der Wunsch, den Filmnachwuchs sinnvoll und effektiv zu fördern. Die Preisverleihung im Berliner Stage Theater des Westens, bei der die jungen Filmschaffenden und ihre Werke im Rampenlicht stehen, stößt bei Branche und Nachwuchs auf begeisterte Resonanz. Es werden alle Abschlussfilme des Jahrgangs in allen Längen, Genres und Formaten in die Auswahl einbezogen. Das besondere Augenmerk gilt Arbeiten mit fiktiver Handlung, Dokumentarfilmen und Werbespots. Über die Nominierung und die Vergabe der Preise entscheiden unabhängige Fachjurys.
