Child Action, Inc. (CAI) is a private, non-profit corporation founded in 1976 to promote the education and social welfare of children and families and to advocate on their behalf. Our programs include resource and referral services for families seeking child care, child care subsidies for qualifying families, recruitment and professional development of the child care workforce, and family education and support. Our goal is to partner with families and assist them in the care and education of their children and to advocate beside them in support of their concerns. Child Action, Inc. is primarily funded by the California Department of Education, Early Learning and Care Division, to provide subsidies and child care and development services. Child Action, Inc. adheres to all California Department of Education, Early Learning and Care Division regulations governing child development programs and operates in accordance with all State of California laws governing non-profit agencies. Established in 1966, River Oak Center for Children, once a residential treatment program, now provides a comprehensive array of behavioral health services to children and youth throughout Sacramento County using a community based model. River Oak embraces a strength based approach to all services provided, building on the positive aspects of each child or youth’s story including family and support systems whenever possible. Services are goal-oriented and rely heavily on proven programs with a history of successful outcomes.

The agency recruits and certifies individual resource family homes. Children’s Hope professional staff members provide in-house, licensing, monitoring, and support services to the individual foster homes. The safety,comfort, success and happiness of our resource children is our first and foremost priority. We seek to provide youth of all ages with nurturing and supportive homes. Our resource families make it their priority to ensure these children are feeling loved and well taken care of as they experience life changing events while being away from their biological families.

ECE’s mission is “to promote the betterment of individuals’ lives and society by ensuring that educational qualifications are fairly and accurately recognized across borders.” In the words of our founder, James S. Frey, ECE exists so that “a person who was trained in another country as a doctor doesn’t end up driving a taxi in the U.S., and a taxi driver does not work as a doctor.” ECE reports give individuals from other countries the recognition that they deserve for education completed in their home countries and give higher education institutions, employers, immigration consultants, and licensing boards confidence that international credentials have been thoroughly and expertly assessed. Saint John’s vision is to break the cycle of poverty and dependence one family at a time. By addressing the root causes of this population’s homelessness and poverty, we help prevent the effects of these conditions from cycling into the next generation. In the context of an 18-month supportive but rigorous program, Saint John’s shows each family the door to a better life, and provides them with the tools to open that door and walk through it, beginning their journey to independence, self-sustainability and real change.

Our Mission La Casa's mission is to provide opportunities for low-income individuals to achieve full social and economic participation in society, with emphasis on the Hispanic population. La Casa de Esperanza, Inc. began in 1966 as History Builders, a small, high quality childcare center, whose goal was to create a smooth transition for children living in a totally Spanish-speaking environment, to the Public School District's English speaking environment. In 2013, over 40 years later, La Casa continues to grow, with a passion for positive change. Since 1966, La Casa has expanded and now offers five fundamental programs. Our Education Programs include a thriving Early Childhood Education and School Age Education Program for the children and youth in our community. Workforce Development provides comprehensive employment assistance to low-income people seeking economic self-sufficiency. La Casa Village I and II offers affordable and private apartments to low-income seniors and disabled individuals. The Weatherization Program identifies energy waste and provides cost-effective, energy saving measures and education to low-income residential households. La Casa Clinica specializes in mental health and alcohol and drug treatment programs. La Casa de Esperanza is a community-based organization committed to providing opportunities for those within our community to achieve full social and economic participation in society, with an emphasis on the Hispanic population. La Casa helps more than 20,000 individuals and families annually through a variety of programs and services to create positive change in the community. Improve Your Tomorrow (IYT) was founded in 2013 with the mission to increase the number of young men of color (YMOC) to attend and graduate from colleges and universities. We envision a world where men of color are overrepresented in higher education, underrepresented in the criminal justice system, and leaders in their communities. With remarkable resilience, authenticity, and passion, we work to combat academic inequities and build a college to community pipeline.

The Gathering Inn's mission is to meet people where they are, inspire hope, and walk alongside them on their journey to sustainable housing. In its 19th year of operation, TGI offers a complete continuum of housing and supportive services for homeless individuals: emergency housing; medical respite care; permanent supportive housing; external housing placement; comprehensive support services; education and training; and aftercare follow-up. Not only does The Gathering Inn exist to fulfill the original mission and vision of our founders, but it also builds on that foundation by expanding services that address barriers to housing. The lives of TGI guests are transformed by inspiring self-sufficiency and inviting them to achieve sustainable housing.
