Founded in 1978, RCAC provides training, technical and financial resources and advocacy so rural communities can achieve their goals. Since 1978, our dedicated staff and active board, coupled with our key values: leadership, collaboration, commitment, quality and integrity, have helped effect positive change in rural communities across the West. RCAC’s work includes environmental infrastructure (water, wastewater and solid waste facilities); affordable housing development; economic and leadership development; and community development finance. These services are available to communities with populations of fewer than 50,000, other nonprofit groups, Tribal organizations, farmworkers, colonias and other specific populations. Headquartered in West Sacramento, California, RCAC’s employees serve rural communities in 13 western states and the Pacific islands. With an annual operating budget of more than $15 million and more than 100 employees working from 52 field offices, RCAC is an important resource to low-income rural communities throughout the West

Child Action, Inc. (CAI) is a private, non-profit corporation founded in 1976 to promote the education and social welfare of children and families and to advocate on their behalf. Our programs include resource and referral services for families seeking child care, child care subsidies for qualifying families, recruitment and professional development of the child care workforce, and family education and support. Our goal is to partner with families and assist them in the care and education of their children and to advocate beside them in support of their concerns. Child Action, Inc. is primarily funded by the California Department of Education, Early Learning and Care Division, to provide subsidies and child care and development services. Child Action, Inc. adheres to all California Department of Education, Early Learning and Care Division regulations governing child development programs and operates in accordance with all State of California laws governing non-profit agencies. Koinonia is a state-licensed, non-profit public service organization serving communities across California and Nevada. We exist to bring hope and healing to foster youth and families through meaningful relationships and quality programs and services. We guide families through the approval process and equip them with the tools they need to care for foster children. We provide in-home support as well as mental health services. The goal is always to reunite the foster children with their family of origin. In some cases, a short-term placement turns into a long-term placement, sometimes taking the path towards adoption. We navigate this process with our families and we also work with parents interested in private adoption. “Koinonia” (Koy-no-nee’-ah) is a Greek word which means “fellowship.” It carries with it the meaning of a committed, trustworthy and dependable relationship. It is this “koinonia” relationship that has made the difference in the lives of thousands of foster children over the past 40 years.

Stanford Sierra Youth & Families (SSYF) provides a continuum of care to empower youth and families to overcome challenges together, as well as connects youth in foster care to the permanent loving families they need and deserve. This includes the following array of comprehensive programs: family advocacy and support, behavioral and mental health services, juvenile justice intervention, mentoring, foster care, adoption services, and pre- and post-adoption support. SSYF supports the entire family with professional treatment and compassionate care, so every youth has the opportunity to thrive at home, in school, and in the community. Established in 1966, River Oak Center for Children, once a residential treatment program, now provides a comprehensive array of behavioral health services to children and youth throughout Sacramento County using a community based model. River Oak embraces a strength based approach to all services provided, building on the positive aspects of each child or youth’s story including family and support systems whenever possible. Services are goal-oriented and rely heavily on proven programs with a history of successful outcomes.

We continue to promote our mission of building a more livable workable world by providing services that focus on integrated employment placement and training, community living and social inclusion.

Children's Hope was founded in 2000, with a goal of not being the biggest agency, but to be the best at what we do."​ A hundred years from now it will not matter what my bank account was or the kind of car I drove; but the world may be different because I was important in the life of a child."​ With the effort of our dedicated foster homes, social workers,office staff, volunteers and donators we have succeeded in maintaining our motto of "Making a Difference, One Child at a Time!"​ Children’s Hope is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit corporation regulated by the Community Care Licensing Division of the California State Department of Social Services. The agency recruits and certifies individual resource family homes. Children’s Hope professional staff members provide in-house, licensing, monitoring, and support services to the individual foster homes. The safety,comfort, success and happiness of our resource children is our first and foremost priority. We seek to provide youth of all ages with nurturing and supportive homes. Our resource families make it their priority to ensure these children are feeling loved and well taken care of as they experience life changing events while being away from their biological families.

B. J. Jordan Child Care Programs, Inc. dba Beanstalk is a private non-profit, 501(c)(3) corporation. The agency was originally founded in 1973 as a pilot project under the Foundation of California State University, Sacramento. At that time the name of the agency was Community Child Care Programs, Inc., which became incorporated in 1977. The original purpose of the agency was to provide child care and nutrition programs, in centers and 'satellite' homes, for families who had limited financial resources. In 1996, as a tribute to the founder and respected advocate for children and families, Betty Jane (B.J.) Jordan, the Board of Directors voted to change the corporate name to B. J. Jordan Child Care Programs, Inc. As the focus of the agency changed to reflect community needs, our purpose expanded to include providing high quality child care and development and nutrition programs for all families. Tuition assistance and free programs along with the Child Care Food Program are provided under the B. J. Jordan Child Care Programs, Inc. corporate name. In 2001, continued growth in programs lead to a "doing business as" name that portrayed the "magic" that is now known as Beanstalk. The Name Beanstalk represents B. J. Jordan Child Care Programs, Inc. vision of Helping Families Grow Healthy Children.

At UCP of Sacramento and Northern California we give children and adults with developmental disabilities the tools and support they need to live a life without limits. Each month, UCP enriches the lives of 5,730 clients in our eight-county region. Our programs and services offer a chance for our clients to grow, thrive and feel included. Services and programs include: Family Respite Service – provides a much needed break for families caring for someone with developmental disabilities Autism Center for Excellence – teaching friendship and communications skills to kids ages 7-12 with autism Adult Day Programs – focusing on daily living skills, communications and community interaction Transportation – UCP’s shuttle and buses give clients mobility, independence and a connection to the community Horsemanship – Building physical agility and confidence for clients and veterans What’s in a name?
