The biggest takeaway from OpenTexts’s Cybersecurity Threat Report for 2023 is that a multi-layered approach to cybersecurity leads to an incredible reduction in malware incidence.

According to their data, the number of tested devices that contain malware drops by more than 40% if 3 layers of security protection are employed instead of just 1 layer.

The report also noted that email is the dominant source of malware infection, highlighting that spearfishing email scams is up by more 16.4% from the year prior and that malware affected email accounted for more than 8% of all email traffic last year.
