Employees Are More Financially Vulnerable Than Many Employers Realize

According to a survey from Unum Group, about 3 in 10 employees claim that personal or family financial issues have dampened their productivity at work as a result. 

In reality, almost 5 out of 10 US workers have less than $1,000 in the bank and could only afford 2 months of their living expenses in the event that an accident, injury, or any other situation prevented them from working. 

Further, nearly 4 out of 10 employees do not consider the employee benefits package offered by their employers to be robust at a time when accident coverage and other voluntary benefits might be the best possible stopgap between an unforeseen event and dire financial straits.
