Our mission quickly expanded to help individuals and their families self-direct their own funding without the burden of dealing with state and federal payroll requirements. The Community Action Program Belknap-Merrimack Counties, Inc. (CAPBMCI, CAPBM, CAP-BM, BMCAP) is a New Hampshire-based 501(c)(3) private, nonprofit organization. The agency was established in 1965 under the provisions of the Equal Opportunity Act of 1964. Under this Act, over twelve hundred Community Action Agencies (CAA) were established nationwide. The primary mission of the organization is to work with low-income families, the elderly, and individuals with disabilities to assist them in their efforts to become or remain financially and socially independent. The Agency accomplished this task by providing a broad array of services that are locally defined, planned, and managed. The agency sponsors and manages seventy-three (73) programs designed to meet the needs of children, families, single parents, and the elderly. Without the services provided by our agency, many local residents would be without a means to provide for their basic needs, including food and shelter. The agency is funded by Federal, State, county, and local funds (37 cities and towns in Belknap and Merrimack Counties). The Planning & Codes Department for Sullivan County oversees the construction of all development outside the city limits - from planning, permitting, inspections, to land use. The Brain Injury Association of New Hampshire (BIANH) is the only state-wide organization in New Hampshire dedicated to brain injury and stroke support, prevention, education, and advocacy for survivors and caregivers. Each year we help over 1000 people in New Hampshire who have sustained one of the following acquired brain injuries: Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI) (e.g., physical trauma due to accidents, falls, assaults, etc.) Stroke Brain Tumors Aneurysm and arteriovenous malformation Concussion - mild traumatic brain injury Surgery Poisoning (includes alcohol, chemotheraphy, heavy metal exposure, neurotoxins Ischemia Pediatric brain injuries (i.g., Shaken Baby Syndrome & lead paint poisoning) Anoxic injury to the brain Meningitis, encephalitis, and infections of brain We are a chartered state affiliate of the Brain Injury Association of America (BIAA; BIAUSA.org) History The Brain Injury Association of New Hampshire was founded in 1993 by parents of brain injury children and teens, who came together to help one another and work to assure that needed services and support were available to New Hampshire citizens with brain injury and their family members. Today we remain a grassroots organization led by a dedicated teams of parents, caregivers, and professionals.

The mission of Southeastern Vermont Community Action (SEVCA) is "to empower and partner with individuals and communities to alleviate the hardships of poverty, provide opportunities to thrive, and eliminate root causes of poverty in southeastern Vermont." SEVCA works to find solutions to the deep-seated problems of poverty, largely by empowering and collaborating with those whose lives are affected by it daily. We address people's immediate needs for fuel, housing, food, and other essentials to help stabilize their lives in the short term, and provide further tools and support to help them achieve greater financial independence in the longer term. SEVCA was created in 1965 as a part of the nationwide 'War on Poverty' and chartered as a Community Action Agency (CAA)—a private non-profit corporation, locally initiated and governed, and designated by local, state, and federal officials as the 'anti-poverty agency' serving Windham and Windsor Counties.

Cedarcrest, a specialized medical facility and school in Keene, New Hampshire, provides round-the-clock skilled nursing care, special education at Cedarcrest School, and speech, occupational, and physical therapies onsite for up to 26 children, infants through 22 years. We offer exceptional medical care and education in a warm, nurturing, home-like setting for children and youth with high-risk medical conditions and significant disabilities, including children who require intensive medical support. The Himalayan Cataract Project (HCP) is an independent, non-profit organization established to eradicate preventable blindness worldwide. We pursue this mission by delivering high-quality care, training local personnel and establishing world-class eye care infrastructure. The HCP was founded in 1995 by two intrepid ophthalmologists - Drs. Sanduk Ruit and Geoffrey Tabin - focused on eradicating unnecessary blindness due to cataracts in the Himalayan region. Today, HCP has expanded to provide eye care, infrastructure support and training for international populations in more than 16 countries throughout Asia and Sub-Saharan Africa, has trained eye care personnel from more than 40 countries, and has procured equipment and supplies for programs in more than 37 countries.
