Utah Community Action’s mission is to empower individuals, strengthen families, and build communities through self-reliance and education programs. Utah Community Action sets itself apart by offering a continuum of care that starts with solving immediate challenges and continues with programs that provide ongoing support and empowerment. Through holistic case management, we address the many factors that contribute to single generational, two-generational, and intergenerational poverty. Our six core programs are Adult Education, Head Start and Early Head Start, Case Management and Housing, HEAT assistance, Weatherization, and Nutrition. Founded in 1965, our organization has expanded our service area and services over the years to best serve our clients. In 2018, we served over 50,000 individuals living in poverty in Utah.

The Utah Parent Center (UPC or Center) is an award-winning, statewide, nonprofit organization founded by parents of children, youth, and young adults with disabilities and special needs to help other parents facing similar challenges. Since 1984 the caring competent staff of the UPC have utilized a parent-to-parent model to help many thousands of parents and to represent a wide variety of disabilities, ages and families in many systems-level activities. The mission of the Utah Parent Center is to help parents help their children with disabilities to live included, productive lives as members of the community.

I kicked off my career running Humanitarian Experience for Youth (HEFY), a non-profit aimed at changing the lives of youth through global humanitarian projects. During my time there I: • Set up the business from scratch, including incorporation and 501c(3) approval • Increased overall program size by 125%, from 16 to 36 foreign expeditions in two years • Managed a $2.0MM program budget • Developed humanitarian aid projects in ten countries • Oversaw long-range strategy for organization’s goals and growth • Led recruitment and management of over 3 employees and over 75 volunteers • Oversaw administration, marketing, partnership relations, finance, and operations

Community Action Partnership of Utah (CAP Utah) is the statewide association of the Community Action Agencies in Utah. The Community Action Agencies in Utah envision an end to poverty. Our member agencies work toward this vision every day as we provide services to low-income families and individuals across the state.
