Ronald McDonald House Charities of Central Texas supports families with critically ill or injured children by providing programs and support services so they can stay close to their critically ill or injured children. Our four programs include: 1. 30 guest rooms at the Ronald McDonald House located near Dell Children’s Hospital in Austin 2. Seven Ronald McDonald Family Rooms located inside the hospitals where families can rest and recuperate not far from their child. 3. The Happy Wheels Carts stroll five area hospital hallways bringing complimentary items to families waiting by their child’s bedside. 4. And the Healing Hearts program, which supports families who have lost a child through burial assistance and bereavement support. These programs provide much needed support and save families thousands of dollars in lodging and food expenses alone with some families needing 100+ days of lodging. RMHC CTX is a 501(c)3 tax-deductible organization and public charity that relies on contributions from the greater Central Texas community, corporate donors and funders and the local Central Texas McDonald’s owner/operators to continue its mission.

CASA of Travis County speaks up for children who’ve been abused or neglected by empowering our community to volunteer as advocates for them in the court system. When the state steps in to protect a child’s safety, a judge appoints a trained CASA volunteer to make independent and informed recommendations in the child’s best interest.

Since May 1985, the Brazos Valley Food Bank has been the core of a network of hunger-relief organizations serving the hungry in Brazos Valley. The Food Bank recovers food and grocery product from grocers, USDA and individuals. From 1999 – present, it has increased food distribution from 709,414 to just under 7 million pounds. The Brazos Valley Food Bank strives to alleviate hunger in the Brazos Valley by distributing food and educational resources to our neighbors in need through a network of hunger relief partners. Mainspring Schools is on a mission to provide children and their families with a community for high-quality early education and holistic support. We are Austin's oldest preschool, and we teach children ages birth to 5 years old. Mainspring is one of only 8% of childcare programs in the nation to have earned accreditation from NAEYC (National Association for the Education of Young Children). Since 1941, Mainspring has been eliminating the school readiness gap: when children start kindergarten behind, they are likely to stay behind for the rest of their lives. 94% of Mainspring graduates start kindergarten at or above the State of Texas’ school readiness level—over twice the regional average—meaning they are primed for better outcomes in high school graduation rates, job attainment, lifelong earnings, and overall stability. Our families come from all over the city and represent different backgrounds, ethnicities, and socio-economic levels; at all times, at least 75% of our students are eligible for tuition subsidies. Mainspring families are offered services including supplemental nutrition resources, financial education, job coaching, life skills training, peer support groups, an onsite social worker, emergency assistance, and referrals to community resources. We believe that early childhood education —alongside a two-generation approach to breaking cycles of poverty and inequity—to be critical for a flourishing society. At Samaritan Center, we heal hearts, provide hope, and enhance lives with a holistic approach to mental health for all ages, whole families and the military community. Samaritan Center was founded on the belief that there is a close relationship between the mind, body, spirit and community. We provide professional counseling, integrative medicine, peer support, wellness education and skills-building workshops that are accessible and affordable in Central Texas. Many clients are uninsured or under-insured low-income families, and veterans and military families struggling with service-related trauma. Our focus on the whole family means we serve all ages - from very young children to older adults - and can truly impact entire family systems. Samaritan Center programs include: • Healthy Community: counseling for children, adults, couples and families • Hope for Heroes: counseling, integrative medicine, and peer support for veterans, military service members and their families • Integrative Medicine: alternative treatments including acupuncture, herbal medicine, nutritional counseling, Tai chi, and Pilates • Military Field Clinician Program: a program serving justice involved veterans with peer mentoring and counseling • Military Veteran Peer Network (MVPN): a statewide mental health program that provides peer support for veterans; Samaritan Center facilitates this program in Travis County

OUR ORGANIZATION The National Urban League is a historic civil rights organization dedicated to economic empowerment in order to elevate the standard of living in historically under-served urban communities. Founded in 1910 and headquartered in New York City, the National Urban League spearheads the efforts of its local affiliates through the development of programs, public policy research and advocacy. Although 36 years have passed since its creation, the Austin Area Urban League continues to hold fast to our original mission; one which guides our outreach, programming, partnerships and advocacy. We envision a community in which all citizens are free from barriers to education, economic and social success. Over the years, significant steps have been made in removing the early prejudices and barriers, thus allowing many of our constituents to learn to grow, and to thrive in the Austin community.
