Established in 1893, Children's Home Society of South Dakota is the oldest human services, nonprofit organization in the state. Through a merger in 1998, Children's Inn, a domestic violence shelter established in 1977, became a program of CHS. CHS provides emergency shelter, residential treatment and special education for children, forensic interviews and examinations for children, foster care and adoption services, and prevention services.
