The Pennsylvania Academy of Family Physicians (PAFP) is the professional member-driven association for more than 5,000 Pennsylvania family physicians and family medicine residents and students. It is unified with the American Academy of Family Physicians (AAFP). Over the past 70 years, the PAFP has been supporting the specialty of family medicine with 78 percent of all Pennsylvania’s family physicians and over 95 percent member retention. BLOCS is an independent charitable organization supported by individuals, companies, firms and foundations of all sizes in the five county Philadelphia region. Since 1980, BLOCS has invested in the lives of tens of thousands of children throughout the area, including some of the poorest neighborhoods in the city. BLOCS is committed to giving children access to a high quality, values based education in area Catholic schools. From its inception in 1980 by a group of visionary business and civic leaders, BLOCS has been supported by a diverse group of individuals. Children who attend pre-K, grade school, high school, or the schools of special education within the Archdiocese of Philadelphia are eligible for BLOCS Scholarships. Through its scholarships, BLOCS reaches more children in more communities than any other private education charity in our region. Nearly $.96 of every dollar brought in goes back out in the form of scholarships to local families and BLOCS currently holds a platinum rating in transparency from GuideStar (an independent rating platform of non-profits around the world).
