Pillar Care Continuum (formerly CPNJ) was founded in 1953 by the parents of children with cerebral palsy who wanted better services for their loved ones. They operated from donated space in the basement of Orange Memorial Hospital. The organization has steadily grown over the years and today it is a $27 million dollar organization with more than 500 staff members at 14 program sites serving more than 1,400 infants, children and adults with disabilities. Pillar Care (formerly CPNJ) is dedicated to enhancing the lives of people with disabilities and other special needs by supporting personal growth, independence and participation in the community.

Administration of the Defined Benefit Plan (Pension) encompassing policy and procedural matters, regulatory, plan and fiduciary compliance for a population of 5000+ members working under collective bargaining agreements. QDRO administration in conjunction with legal and actuarial consultants.

Jawonio is the premiere provider of lifespan services for people with special needs. Jawonio is a New York-based non-profit with service locations in all of Rockland County for young children and adults. Their main campus is in New City, NY. In Westchester, Jawonio in Yonkers is the primary location for adult programs and services. The agency has other sites throughout the Lower Hudson Valley Region including Orange County for specialized services. Jawonio operates two successful businesses in the region including a commercial cleaning company as well as a Lego resale store. Both entities provide vocational skills, job training and supports leading to employment opportunities. Jawonio is a local, state and nationally recognized nonprofit organization of excellence and innovation. The word “Jawonio” is an Indigenous American word for Independence. Our mission is to inspire children and adults with special needs to reach their maximum potential. At the same time, our outstanding reputation for more than 75 years has been to provide compassionate care and quality services that offer hope and opportunity. Jawonio is known for being the place “where miracles happen every day”.

Responsibilities are shared between the three branches of State Government - The Executive, Legislative and Judicial Branches.
