OIC was established locally 1971 and is an affiliate of the National OIC’s of America which was founded by Reverend Leon H. Sullivan in Philadelphia in 1964.

At Central Community House, we believe in the power of community. It is our mission to empower people to reach their full potential, be self-supporting, and live cooperatively with others. We do this by building community that meets the needs and nourishes the creative aspirations of one another. Within our neighborhood-based community center, people of all ages come together to learn, play, share their gifts and find assistance when needed. From our public Computer Lab to monthly Community Dinners, services are designed to aid individuals in living self-sufficiently while adding to the overall quality of life in our neighborhood. We operate in the Near East neighborhood of Columbus, where nearly half of occupied households live below the Federal Poverty Line. Rather than simply address one problem or social condition, we build relationships and work holistically to combat the myriad effects of generational poverty. We have a long history of success offering free, comprehensive programming for youth, teens, artists, entrepreneurs, seniors, and families. We provide social work services, community organizing and advocacy, basic and emergency materials assistance and workforce development.

Bright Beginnings is a nonprofit organization with 100+ staff that provides solutions to build sustainably for families experiencing homelessness. As HR Manager, I was accountable for planning, establishing, and implemented best practice Human Resources processes and policies to shape a high-performing workplace culture that emphasizes empowerment, accountability, and productivity. I also designed employee-centered policies to optimize administrative operations, eliminate process inefficiencies, and support an agile, engaged, and highly motivated workforce. Among my accomplishments, I have: ➥ Inherited an underperforming department that was non-compliant with FMLA, ADA, FFCRA, and other labor laws. I turned the situation around by training employees and managers on best practice procedures including paid family leave and short-term disability, effectively bringing the organization back into compliance. ➥ Developed a highly centralized and consolidated database to store all manual and employee documentation. ➥ Created an efficient personnel filing system by creating records using SharePoint.

Adult & Teen Challenge Ohio Valley is a company based out of Youngstown, Ohio. Our mission is to introduce people in addiction to a personal relationship with Jesus Christ by applying Biblical principles, individuals will be rebuilding lives, restoring families, and reclaiming our community. The biggest difference between us and a traditional recovery center is our focus on Christ. We call this the “Jesus Factor”. Our program focuses on the power of the Holy Spirit and God’s Word to give our students a guiding light.

The Ohio Association of Foodbanks is Ohio's largest charitable response to hunger. We represent Ohio's 12 Feeding America foodbanks and their nearly 3,600 member food pantries, soup kitchens, and other hunger relief agencies. Last year, our statewide network acquired and distributed over 270 million pounds of food and grocery items to people in need. We also operate a statewide national service program and a local work experience program, in addition to advocating for public policies that address the root causes of hunger and poverty.

At SproutFive, we believe every child deserves a holistic, high-quality early education. Our goal is to ensure that all children are given the opportunity to thrive during their first five years of life. With a century of history and a startup mindset, SproutFive is looking to position itself as a national leader and reimagine the field of early learning. Our model is to co-locate early education and child care within nonprofit hubs, education institutions, affordable housing complexes, and employers to reduce barriers for families. In doing so, we see early education as the first and most effective mechanism for community development. While from the outside our work appears to be a collection of classrooms across the city of Columbus, behind the scenes is a team working at the forefront of a movement to ensure children have access to holistic learning experiences they need to develop socially, emotionally, cognitively, and physically during those critical first five years of life. Our work goes beyond “just child care,” as we work to support the people who support the children. The families. The teachers. The communities.
