The Second Harvest Food Bank of Northwest Pennsylvania is the largest nonprofit food distribution organization in northwest Pennsylvania and the only food bank in the region. Second Harvest solicits, receives, inventories, stores and distributes millions of pounds of grocery products each year to hundreds of nonprofit member agencies that directly serve people facing hard times in 11 counties. Member agencies that receive food from Second Harvest either have emergency food or non-emergency food programs. Emergency member agencies include food pantries, soup kitchens, Produce Express mobile food pantries, Military Share – a Produce Express Program, School Pantries, BackPack Program sites, Kids Cafes, Senior Box sites and emergency shelters. Other member agencies are nonprofit organizations that provide social services to low-income people and also serve snacks or meals to their clients. Examples include childcare centers, group homes and drug and alcohol rehabilitation centers.

Our compassionate and experienced staff work to train, license and match foster and adoptive families with a child needing a caring, supportive and nurturing connection. Beyond adoption, NOAS staff are continuously available to assist a family through monthly support groups, TBRI® parent training and in-home coaching. NOAS also supports former foster youth as a Bridges Provider, offering support and guidance as they transition out of the system into adulthood. We provide support through our “IGNITE Foster Youth: Mentor One Who Needs Someone”, a volunteer mentoring program to support our most vulnerable teens and young adults. There's a sudden "shock" as they adjust to the change, and then they are fully enjoying all that God has to offer, while the rest sit quietly on the sideliness, wanting what he is experiencing. When was the last time you noticed "turkeys" hanging around with "eagles"? They don't. The Bible teaches that you take on the characteristics of those you spend time with ... bad company corrupts good morals. And bad "faith partners" corrupt otherwise "good faith folks". So, if you want grow, to flourish, and to be like "eagles", then you've got to go to where you're challenged, to where you 'have to' fly high! You want to go ... "where the Eagles gather"!
