Our organization studies the underlying issues involved in improving education, economic opportunities, living environments and the general welfare of the community to make recommendations for programs, projects, or activities and create solutions for individuals who reside in Bladen, Brunswick, Columbus, Hoke, Pender, Robeson, and Scotland Counties.

Wake County Smart Start is a nonprofit organization that prepares children for success in school and in life. We serve children ages 0-5 and prepare them for kindergarten and life ahead. Founded 1996, Wake County Smart Start improves the quality, accessibility and affordability of child care and family services. We are a private-public partnership that builds bridges between nonprofits, private child care centers and public institutions. We are administer the public NC Pre-K and ThreeSchool programs. We work closely with private child care centers to increase the quality of early childhood education and to place children in free programs. We fund programs across Wake County that provide much-needed services to children and families including parenting support, mental health services, early literacy and other community-centered programs. Carolina Collaborative Community Care (4C) is a non-profit organization providing care management services to Carolina Access II and III Medicaid patients in Cumberland County. We are located in historic downtown Fayetteville, North Carolina, in the Systel building. Our staff is comprised of both clinical and non-clinical positions. As an award-winning care management model, our company assists patients with medication reconciliations, coordination of services and disease state education. Supervised, trained and evaluated 24 staff members • Successfully implemented a Fresh Produce Bag Pilot Program for homebound seniors over age 60 by collaborating with NC Division on Aging and the NC State Farmers Market in order to deliver over 300 fresh produce bags to frail and poverty stricken senior clients at no cost to the agency. • Spear-headed the first week long Wake County March for Meals Awareness Campaign; recruited more than 50 Community Champions (Congressional Leaders, Wake County Commissioners, Town Mayors, and Town Police and Fire Chiefs) to serve and deliver meals while increasing awareness regarding senior hunger on social media. • Reorganized the Client Outreach department and automated processes increasing productivity and efficiency by 10% and decreasing mileage costs by more than 15%.
