As the world's first child protection agency, The NYSPCC responds to the complex needs of abused and neglected children, and those involved in their care, by providing best practice counseling, legal, and educational services. Through research, communications and training initiatives, we work to expand these programs to prevent abuse and help more children heal. The NYSPCC intends to accomplish this by establishing best practice primary, secondary, and tertiary child abuse and neglect prevention programs that serve the most complex and challenging cases. We can impact the child protection field by establishing a national presence through publication of our work and by teaching and training on local, state, and national levels. By achieving a national presence we will positively impact the lives of countless children and their families. The NYSPCC has developed a variety of best-practice counseling, educational, and legal services. The NYSPCC is dedicated to providing these services, free of charge, to the most vulnerable children and families in New York City, as well as to the caring professionals who work with these populations. Our work in New York City reaches several thousand children and families each year. In order to help more children and families, we have developed curricula and workshops to teach and train others on how to keep children safe. Through The NYSPCC’s Training Institute, our reach and impact are expanded exponentially to child welfare and child protection professionals around the country — and the world — with our best practice models, ready for replication and implementation. JEWISH FAMILY ERVICE OF ROCHESTER, INC.
JEWISH FAMILY ERVICE OF ROCHESTER, INC.
Rochester, New York

Jewish Family Services (JFS) has been serving our Rochester community for over 100 years. When our agency began, people of the Jewish faith needed a place to go for their social service needs. As different religious groups have assimilated more into the broader community and as society has evolved from Jewish hospitals for Jewish individuals, the need for a specifically Jewish Social Service agency has changed. Our work at JFS is grounded in the time -honored Jewish tradition of Tikkun Olam, or the repairing of the world. Tikkun olam is based on the premise that at one time, many thousands of years ago, the world was whole. Fragile but whole. And, one day, the world—it shattered. Shards of glass were everywhere and putting it back together became the work of the Jewish people. It is important to note that the work in putting the pieces back together was for the good of all of humanity. Our Mission Jewish Family Services empowers Jewish and non-Jewish individuals, families and communities to thrive by providing a wide array of programs and services built upon the traditions of dignity, kindness and tikkun olam – improving the world. Our Vision We will repair the world through compassion, connection and creative solutions. Jewish Family Service of Rochester, Inc. DBA: Jewish Family Services

EPIC - EVERY PERSON INFLUENCES CHILDREN, INC.
EPIC - EVERY PERSON INFLUENCES CHILDREN, INC.
Buffalo, New York

History: EPIC was born out of a tragedy experienced by founder Robert Wilson. In 1977, his wife was murdered by a 15 year old neighbor, a foster child they had befriended. Investigation of the child’s life indicated that he had been abused, neglected, and placed in eleven different foster homes. He had not experienced love; he only knew anger and violence. While it was too late to change what had happened to his wife, Wilson felt that it was not too late for others. In 1980, he established EPIC in Buffalo, New York with a vision of preventing tragedies like his. EPIC workshops and trainings carry out Robert Wilson’s mission by involving the entire community in helping children make responsible decisions, understand and respect authority, develop positive self-esteem, plan for the future, and succeed in life. Mission: Helping families, schools, and communities raise children to become responsible and successful adults. Vision: A world where every child has a strong start and a promising future. Values: We value all children and their right to a strong start and a successful future. We value families and their primary influence on a child's develpment. We value our partnerships with educators, community organizations, and funders as we work together to support children and families. We value professionalism and will act with integrity, respect, and honesty at all times. We value diversity and are committed to inclusiveness across all levels of our organization. We value excellence in all we do. We value our team who delivers EPIC's mission with passion, knowledge and skill.

Teen Services Each year, the YWCA’s Teen Services helps more than 200 teenage mothers navigate the challenges of young adulthood and parenting. Through counseling, case management, home visits, social activities and career direction, teen mothers further their education and secure the work skills and opportunities that will lead to a successful future for them and their children. Housing Services Through our Housing Services, the YWCA offers residential programs for single women, women with children and families who need a safe and secure home from which to build their strength and continue their progress. The YWCA provides emergency housing for women in crisis and supportive housing for women with special needs. Supportive Housing is designed to promote independent living in a supervised setting for individuals who have completed another course of treatment and are making the transition to independent living. They are for individuals who either require a long-term supportive environment following care in another type of residential service for an undetermined length of stay, or who are in need of a transitional living environment prior to establishing independent community living. The program is licensed by the NYS Office of Alcohol and Substance Abuse. Other Housing services include rapid re-housing solutions for the homeless and at-risk for homelessness and permanent, affordable housing for women working to maintain a healthy and productive life for themselves and their children. Counseling and education in trauma informed care, life skills, parenting, and job readiness, support our residents each step of the way on their journey to success. Racial Justice Services We all belong. What diminishes one, diminishes all. A critical focus in strengthening the lives of women we serve is addressing racial barriers. Their chances for long-term success are enhanced when we build community awareness of how racism continues to impede their progress.
