Our roots in the greater Bridgeport, Connecticut community are deep, dating to 1895, first as a YWCA and then as The Center for Women and Families of Eastern Fairfield County. On January 21, 2014, we officially changed our name to The Center for Family Justice, Inc., beginning an 18-month transformation into Connecticut’s first Family Justice Center and the 95th in the world. We serve six Fairfield County towns: Bridgeport, Easton, Fairfield, Monroe, Stratford and Trumbull. What is a Family Justice Center? Family Justice Centers (FJC) use a coordinated approach to offer services designed to break the cycle of violence, in a safe place, under one roof. Police, prosecutors, civil/legal providers, counselors and client advocates work together to streamline how they help people heal while reducing costs. The Center for Family Justice Although our name changed, we continue with the work we have provided for 12 decades: providing free, confidential, bilingual crisis services that help all people plagued by domestic and sexual violence restore their lives, and educating our communities to prevent future abuse. It is the comprehensive services our partners are providing that are streamlining the road to healing and self-sufficiency. Why the change? We know the FJC model works, based on documented outcomes since the first FJC opened in San Diego, CA, in 2002 that include: Reduced homicides; Increased community support services; Increased safety and autonomy, which is empowering for clients; Reduced fear and anxiety, recantation and minimization for those suffering from domestic and sexual violence; Increased prosecution of offenders; Reduced costs because all services are in one place; Streamlined processes.

Founded on November 20, 1907, with 312 charter members, the Dutchess County Regional Chamber of Commerce was created to grow the local economy. Regular events include monthly Contact Breakfasts and the ever-popular Business After Hours that highlights local venues and companies. The Chamber's Annual Hudson Valley Hot-Air Balloon Festival marks its 31st year in 2022. In addition to working on behalf of its members, the Chamber supports the local community. During the Depression, the Chamber sponsored an Emergency Work Bureau supported by individuals and Poughkeepsie businesses. Today, we still provide help to those in need by offering a variety of programs through our Workforce Development Center. The non-profit organization Hudson River Sloop Clearwater was created to defend and restore the Hudson River, one of the great and historic rivers of this nation. Since it was founded in 1979, Hope’s Door has helped thousands of victims of all ages and from all walks of life make their personal journey from victim to survivor. Hope’s Door: Somos a quien llamar si no lo estas. We were founded by the Junior League of Northern Westchester as the Northern Westchester Shelter, which later became Hope’s Door. Hope’s Door works to end domestic violence and empower victims to achieve safety, independence and healing from the trauma of abuse. In addition, Hope’s Door works to educate the public about the root causes of abuse; the warning signs of abuse; the difference between a healthy relationship and an unhealthy relationship; and we strive to end the intergenerational cycle of abuse. The multi-cultural programs and services at Hope’s Door include a free and confidential bilingual 24/7 crisis hotline, safety planning, danger assessment, emergency shelter, legal advocacy, individual counseling, support groups, children’s programs, community education, the Next Step Economic Empowerment Program, and Love Shouldn’t Hurt, an award winning teen dating abuse intervention and prevention program.

Children, staff and families are the heart of our child care program. We have a 4-star rating in both of our locations, and the State of Michigan has rated us among the top 10% of all licensed programs in the state - but that's not our highest goal. It's not about numbers or ratings, it's about building relationships and giving families a loving environment for their children.

Since 1980, Domestic Violence Crisis Center (DVCC) has provided counseling and advocacy services for victims of domestic violence and their children. DVCC is the only state-certified agency recognized by the Connecticut Coalition Against Domestic Violence (CCADV) serving the communities of Norwalk, Stamford, New Canaan, Darien, Westport, Weston and Wilton.   DVCC’s role is to help those experiencing any level of domestic violence and assist them in building a safer environment for the well-being of themselves and their families. Our services include housing and financial advocacy; legal advocacy; trauma-informed individual and group counseling; and emergency safe housing. All victim services are free and confidential, and all services offered are multicultural/multilingual.
