Since 1875, it has been the mission of Heartland Family Service to strengthen individuals and families in our community through education, counseling, advocacy and support services. Today, we serve over 140,000 people of all ages — from the infants in our Family Works program to the seniors in our Generations Community Center — annually from 20 locations in east central Nebraska and southwest Iowa. With more than 40 programs in our organization, we are able to hand-craft an integrated, multi-service approach that guides our clients toward safety, well-being, and, ultimately, self-sufficiency. Project Harmony Child Protection Center is a community-based organization providing child-friendly, centralized and integrated child abuse assessment and investigation for children throughout eastern Nebraska and southwest Iowa. Project Harmony works with state human services and local law enforcement agencies to protect the child and prosecute the offender. This past year, 8,064 children sought services at Project Harmony. Since the opening of Project Harmony in 1996 more than 64,000 children have received vital services in prevention and child abuse assessment, investigation and treatment referral. Prosecution rates have increased and abused children and their families are able to get professional help in the process of healing. The Project Harmony Training Institute was established in 2007 and since that time more than 30,000 students, citizens and professionals have been taught the best methods to assess and respond to children and their families who have been impacted by abuse and neglect. Project Harmony and its partner agencies work together to serve families throughout the communities of eastern Nebraska and southwest Iowa. This collaborative effort provides effective, immediate and sensitive support to child victims and their non-offending family members, improved communication and case resolution.

The Boys & Girls Clubs of the Midlands (BGCM) is one of the largest youth-serving agencies in the Omaha metropolitan area. BGCM is an out of school, youth-serving agency. These opportunities are led by professional, positive role models that make a lifelong impact in the lives of those we serve. It is our mission to inspire and enable all young people, especially those who need us most, to realize their full potential as productive, responsible, healthy and caring members of society. We currently operate 13 Clubs in the metro Omaha and Southwest Iowa area, in addition to Camp Nakomis, a summer camp that provides a positive, challenging outdoor experience to the youth within our community. Historically, BGCM has purposefully located Clubs in areas of high need in order to have the greatest impact on the lives of at-risk youth. Currently, we serve over 7,000 children and teens.

Family Service Lincoln is a 501(c)3, founded in 1891 as the first charitable organization in Lincoln, Nebraska. The programming provided by Family Service has evolved over the years to meet the needs of families and fit the current conditions in our community. In 2021, we provided case management, housing, behavioral health therapy, expanded learning opportunities, and nutrition programs to 7,213 individuals. Our mission of “Helping Families Thrive” embodies the impact we have across all five tracks of programming.
