Carpenter and Company was formed and incorporated in very early 1984. For two years it occupied 300 square feet at One Ward Parkway and had but one employee in addition to its founder. Mr. Carpenter’s credentials were a college degree from Westminster College, three years with the Travelers group department primarily in Chicago, 11 years with Connecticut Mutual in sales, supervision and finally as General Agent. 1980 Carpenter returned to Kansas City where he continued to sell life-accident and health and retirement plans for two years and then two years of property and casualty insurance with a local firm. The company started by representing three companies: Travelers, Safeco and Employers Mutual.
