On March 12, 1957, 51 Carroll County residents met at Ruth’s restaurant with one primary goal in common. The goal was to establish a unified health care facility. On that date, Carroll County Memorial Hospital Association, a not for profit, non-tax supported corporation, was formed. The first hospital board was comprised of the following citizens: Baker Browning, President; Robert M. Marshall Jr., 1st Vice President; H.E. (Homer) Dunham, 2nd Vice President; Travis Smith, Secretary; Ralph T. Haynes, Treasurer; C.R. (Bob) Lock; Christian F. Stipp; Louis Uhrig; Edith Furry; Alvin Reimer; Alvin Kaiser; Jack Jones; Leroy Colliver; and Ted Chrystie. On September 20, 1965, Jack Tindle was employed as administrator. Mr. Tindle served as administrator of CCMH until his retirement in September 1998. At that time, Mr. Tindle had served a total of 33 years as administrator. Jerry Dover was employed to fulfill the role as Administrator and Chief Executive Officer where he served in this role until 2012. Jeff Tindle the son of Jack Tindle was announced as CEO in 2012 and is currently still serving the community of Carrollton. CCMH is currently a 25 bed Critical Access Hospital with over 240 employees. Through the years we have helped generation after generation reach better health. Our organization has been striving to serve the needs of our region since we were established. Hillsboro Health, formerly Hillsboro Area Hospital, is a local, independent health care organization comprised of a 25-bed, not-for-profit, critical access hospital that provides inpatient, outpatient, and emergency services. Hillsboro Health also offers primary and specialty care, therapy services, assisted living facilities and a fitness and aquatics center. Hillsboro Health is committed to providing compassionate and quality care in an environment that fosters healing and wellness and follows the highest standards for patient safety.

Since 1952, Carlinville Area Hospital & Clinics has worked tirelessly to connect residents of Carlinville and surrounding communities to expert, compassionate care in a setting that's close to home. Our Comprehensive Rural Health System offers a wide range of high-quality inpatient, outpatient, surgical and emergency services for patients of all ages. CAH&C is a licensed, 25-bed, acute care hospital that provides a wide range of inpatient, outpatient, and emergency services. Patients can be admitted to the hospital for medical, surgical, or pediatric care. A variety of other services are available to patients on an inpatient and outpatient basis through the hospital's Cardiopulmonary, Imaging, Laboratory and Rehabilitation Services, including Physical, Occupational, Speech and Aquatic Therapy, as well as Cardiac and Pulmonary Rehabilitation. Nine physicians currently represent the Active Medical Staff at CAH&C. Their specialties include General and Family Practice, Geriatrics, Internal Medicine, Pediatrics, and Orthopedics. More than 31 physicians, representing over a dozen specialties, are available to see patients locally through the Outpatient Specialty Clinic. Carlinville Area Hospital & Clinics offers a 24-hour STAT Stroke and STAT Heart designated Emergency Department staffed with emergency medicine physicians. Our inpatient unit has Hospitalists available that can care for patients who do not have a physician that regularly admits patients at the hospital. Staff physicians may also elect to use the Hospitalists to assist in managing the care of their own admitted patients. Skilled nursing and rehabilitation care are available at Carlinville Area Hospital & Clinics through our Swing Bed Program.

On September 10, 1950, the citizens of Hancock County gathered for the dedication of their new Memorial Hospital. This was indeed a fitting memorial to the men and women of Hancock County who lost their lives, for it meant the healing of illness and saving of lives among their own people. Services Include Emergency Room, Surgery, Inpatient, Lab, MRI, XRay, Stress Tests, Sleep Studies, Family Medicine, Gynecology, Dermatology, Senior Counseling, Diabetes Health & Wellness Center, Pulmonary Rehabilitation, Oncology, Ophthalmology, Cardiology, Neurology, Pulmonology, Pediatrics.

Johnson Regional Medical Center was established in 1922 in a meager boarding house. In 2013, Johnson Regional Medical Center underwent a 35,000 square foot expansion that houses a state-of-the-art emergency department, physical therapy department, new radiology facilities, five surgery suites, and a beautiful registration area. Johnson Regional Medical Center is a community not-for-profit hospital that serves the populations of Johnson, Franklin, Logan, Newton, Madison, and Yell counties located in the Arkansas River Valley. Our 90-licensed bed facility consists of 8 Intensive Care Unit beds, 9 Labor and Delivery beds, 20 Senior Care beds, 12 Inpatient Physical Rehab beds, 12 Emergency Room beds, and 40 Medical/Surgical beds.
