Kooima Company began in 1988 as a stamping job shop, owned by John and Phil Kooima, a father/son partnership. In 2008, John Kooima retired, and Phil Kooima became the sole owner of the company. In October 1993, Kooima Company installed its first laser cutter. Since then, Kooima Company has specialized in laser cutting steel. The metal fabricating business has grown from a small building with 16,000 sq. ft., to a large facility with over 250,000 sq. ft. of production and warehouse space. In December 2019, Kooima Company was purchased by SPS and State Steel resulting in a name change to Kooima Company, LLC. Kooima Company, LLC is located in Rock Valley, Iowa. In this role, I Utilized SolidWorks to reverse engineer and 3D model previously manufactured parts, creating detailed assemblies and technical prints to enhance manufacturing efficiency and accuracy. I developed custom weldments and company templates within SolidWorks, improving design speed and consistency. I contributed to hands-on projects, including installing stairs on a lakeside cliff, assembling dock parts, and installing boat lifts.
