The Congregational Library began in 1853 when a small group of Boston clergymen donated 56 books from their personal collections. A century and a half later, it has become an internationally recognized resource for scholars, religious leaders, and local churches. Today the Congregational Library & Archives is a thriving center for researchers of all kinds, from professional historians to church members curious about their roots — anyone wanting to understand more about a religious tradition that has deeply informed American culture. The Congregational story is about ordinary people doing extraordinary things, beginning with the seventeenth-century Puritans and continuing on through nineteenth-century abolitionists and social reformers to the work of modern-day Congregational churches toward a just and open society. We believe that the stories of the past are an essential resource for twenty-first century life, providing depth and balance in an always moving world. In that spirit we are continually updating our learning opportunities. As an all-purpose library, we serve the professional scholars, graduate students, and genealogists who work in our historical collection, as well as the busy people who come here for seminars on Congregational history, walking tours of Boston's historic churches, or informal lunches with well-known scholars and popular authors. Our Mission: Upstander Project uses storytelling to amplify silenced narratives, develop upstander skills to challenge systemic injustice, and nurture compassionate, courageous relationships that honor the interconnection of all beings and the Earth. Our Vision: We envision a world rooted in responsibility and respect for all where upstanders confront injustice and repair harm to ensure all beings thrive together. What We Do: Upstander Project is a Boston-based organization founded in 2009 by Emmy® Award-winning documentarian Adam Mazo, and educator and curriculum designer, Dr. Mishy Lesser. We produce social issue documentaries, design companion teaching guides and lesson plans for educators, facilitate teacher workshops, and present our movies at film festivals, international conferences and educational and cultural institutions. Upstander Project uses our documentaries and learning resources to dismantle hurtful and stereotypical racist ideas. Film screenings are paired with conversations and teacher workshops. Our purpose is to create opportunities for deep engagement that inspire teachers and their students to become upstanders by creating more inclusive curricula, schools, public conversations and spaces.

Since 2005, Watertown Cable Access Corp (WCA-TV) has been Watertown's Public, Education, & Government Access (PEG) station. Our mission is to provide coverage of local events, meetings, and news, as well as access to our equipment and facility to engage our community and amplify their voices. Our Public channel consists of community events, news, and locally produced programming. On our Education channel, you will find school events, sports, library presentations and WHS student produced programming. Our Government channel provides all your gavel to gavel coverage of local municipal meetings, including City Council, School Committee, Zoning Board, and more. WCA-TV also streams online 24/7, and all of our videos can be accessed on-demand anytime on our website. Here at WCA-TV we not only aim to provide programming to residents, but we also encourage our community to come in and create their own programming. Becoming a member is free and easy, and after just one short orientation session, members gain access to our facility and field equipment. We also offer a variety of production focused workshops that, when completed, will grant even further access to our studio and editing suites. Our goal is to develop content produced primarily by the Watertown community. Our members are free to express themselves in a multitude of ways and are not limited to what they can produce. We are always accepting new members, and there’s nothing we love more than showcasing the diversity of our city through the people that make it so unique.
