KVCAP is a non-profit community action program which has been providing services to the people of Kennebec and Somerset counties for over 40 years. We offer a variety of services geared towards helping our clients achieve economic and social self-sufficiency. Each year, thousands of residents access KVCAP services to assist them in their struggle to overcome the barriers of poverty. Many of our services are available to people of all income levels.

Woodfords Family Services is a nonprofit organization committed to the support and inclusion of people with special needs and their families in Maine communties. For 50 years, Woodfords has supported children, youth and adults to reach their highest potentiall and reach their goals. Woodfords is based in Westbrook, Maine with satellite location in Manchester, Waterville and Topsham and provides services in 11 of Maine's 16 counties. The agency employs approximately 500 individuals who work with more than 1,500 families and many schools and community organizations each year.

As the largest hunger relief organization in Maine, Good Shepherd Food Bank provides for Mainers facing hunger by distributing nutritious food to 400 partner agencies across the state, including food pantries, meal sites, and youth programs. Together with its network, the Food Bank leads a statewide effort to combat the root causes of hunger by engaging in advocacy, nutrition education, and strategic partnerships. In 2015, the Food Bank distributed more than 20 million pounds of food to families, children, and seniors in need throughout Maine. There are many ways to describe Preble Street: drop-in centers, soup kitchens, food pantry, shelters, social work services, supported housing. These descriptions only tell part of the story of who we are, though. We are a community at Preble Street. The “We” means everyone involved: staff, board, volunteers, donors, and especially those who use our services. Everyone is welcome at Preble Street, everyone is respected and treated with dignity, and everyone is invited to contribute to the effort of meeting our mission: "To provide accessible barrier-free services to empower people experiencing problems with homelessness, housing, hunger, and poverty, and to advocate for solutions to these problems."​ Preble Street is about people. The Island Institute works alongside Maine’s island and coastal leaders to build community sustainability in island and coastal communities and share solutions for addressing our coast’s most critical issues. While our work remains rooted in Maine, it has also expanded beyond our state through partnerships with coastal communities across the country and the world. With more than 150,000 year-round islanders in the U.S. alone, we see an opportunity to build a vast network through which we can exchange ideas and solutions to help address the challenges we all share. The critical needs of our coast are priorities that require coordinated resources and leadership over the coming decade and beyond. The John T. Gorman Foundation advances ideas and opportunities that can improve the lives of disadvantaged people in Maine. Program Overview: Promise Early Education Center is the foremost early learning program in Central Maine that is dedicated to educating the whole child and preparing that child for success in school and opportunity beyond. Our Agency provides a safe, engaging, and empowering place for children to learn and grow; offers a results driven educational curriculum taught be degreed teachers; and supports the engagement of parents and caregivers in their child’s learning through partnership, communication and a commitment to the parent as primary educator.
