Cecilia along with her husband Tom Slusser, was operating a garden store, nursery, as well as a landscaping and lawn maintenance company by the turn of the decade. It was in 1976 when Samuel C. Gray, a pioneer in the seeding and sodding industry, approached the Slusser family about taking over his business. Sam Gray wanted to retire, but was determined to see his business carry on and had built a trusting relationship with the Slusser family. The Slusser family agreed and Slusser’s Green Thumb as it’s known today, began.
