In 1973, a group of individuals banded together to form what would later be known as Imagine the Possibilities – a nonprofit organization that is purposed to serve individuals with disabilities. While not known then, the leaders of this organization would later join many other like-minded organizations across the state of Iowa that all had one common theme in mind – to empower people to reach individual achievement across the spectrum of life. The focus of Imagine the Possibilities has always remained the same: to give people equal opportunities to reach their goals and be an active member of their community. Community Action is a not for profit organization offering myriad programs to fight poverty in Rock and Walworth Counties. At Community Action we provide access and opportunity for those we serve and those who support our efforts. Through innovative programs and strong community partnerships we eliminate barriers, establishing clear pathways to economic self-reliance. Community Action develops and implements a broad range of services across our two-county area including: child care, pre-school and school age programs, affordable housing and housing counseling services, youth programs, weatherization, community organizing and development, a homeless shelter, health care, and the Temporary Emergency Food Assistance Program (TEFAP).
