Friend Family Health Center, Inc. (“Friend Family”) was started with the development of the Friend Family Foundation by Berman and Hannah Friend in the 1930s. Nearly 70 years later, Friend Family applied for and was designated as a federally qualified health center (FQHC) to continue to ensure access to quality care in medically underserved areas. Since then, we have opened several service sites to deliver effective care to our communities, regardless of patient income. Today, Friend Family Health Center’s delivery sites provide care services to over 30,000 patients on an annual basis. We are proud to be recognized as a Patient-Centered Medical Home (PCMH) by the National Committee for Quality Assurance, a designation that demonstrates our commitment to improving the quality, effectiveness, and efficiency of healthcare delivery. We help guide adults 60 years of age and over, adults with disabilities, their caregivers, families, and friends along their best path to aging – providing resources, advocacy, programs and services needed to live with independence and dignity in the community. We focus on helping individuals who are navigating the aging process have equal access to food, shelter, care, and safety. Services offered include home-delivered meals and safety checks, in-home services, support groups, education, and Respite for caregivers, protection from abuse, access to benefits for health insurance, Supplemental Nutrition Assistance program (SNAP), energy, transportation, and property tax savings, assistance needed for safe transition from hospitals or skilled nursing facilities, shared housing, and general information about resources.

Guardian Angel Community Services (formerly, Guardian Angel Home), was founded in Joliet, Illinois in 1897 as an orphanage, run by the Sisters of Saint Francis of Mary Immaculate, to care for dependent and neglected children. In 1973, Guardian Angel Community Services became a licensed, child welfare agency and began focusing its efforts on addressing the increasingly complex problems of children and families. In August 2005, the Agency officially changed the name to reflect the wide array of services provided to the community. Guardian Angel Community Services expanded in the mid 1990’s to include an office in Morris, Illinois, which offers counseling, and medical and legal advocacy services to victims of domestic and sexual violence.
