New concepts introduced to agency included: outsourcing of property maintenance, establishment of preventative maintenance program, and check and balance system for rent collection. Project funding exceeding $1.5M was applied for and received from the Missouri Housing Development Commission (MHDC). Negotiated contracts with entities who partnered with Northside Community Center on various projects.

Gateway180 is the largest Residential Emergency Shelter in the State of Missouri, serving women, children, and families experiencing homelessness. It is our G180 mission to empower adults and families to become independent and permanently housed. We provide a temporary home for 150 women and children daily and provide a clean, safe bed in a nurturing environment in response to an individual’s need for emergency shelter. All shelter residents have access to 3 meals daily, day services, children’s programs, and newly offered on-site counseling services. Through our Case Management and Empowerment Programs, we transition individuals and families from the trauma of needing emergency shelter, to preparing for the independence of permanent housing and housing stability. Gateway180 also operates client choice Rapid Rehousing Programs. Our Rapid Rehousing Programs enable us to rehouse and provide financial and case management support to individuals and families experiencing homelessness in the St. Louis community. In a typical year, we serve roughly 1,000 individuals, representing roughly 400 households, in our Residential Emergency Shelter Program, and roughly 700 individuals, or 280 households per year during the COVID pandemic. In addition, annually, we serve 125 individuals, representing 50 households in our scattered-site, Rapid Rehousing Program. The organization is committed to the principles of "Housing First" and to evidence-based practices in homeless services including, trauma-informed care, client-centered care, and critical time intervention.
