Meridian, a private, non-profit organization, has its roots in the community mental health movement that began in the 1960’s to bring education about mental illnesses and substance use disorders and treatment for those affected to the local level. Created as a tax-exempt entity in 1972, Meridian has been a part of the lives of thousands as we provide a safety net for those in crisis, a source of effective treatment, and a contributor to the health of the entire community. Our mission – To promote the health, recovery, and well-being of those affected by mental illness and substance use disorders through prevention, coordinated treatment, and supportive services – is evident in all we do; from developing a continuum of treatment services that are evidence-based for a range of illnesses to participating in our communities as a partner in enhancing the quality of life. We are guided by values laid down by our volunteer Board of Directors and our vision, a community in which hope, recovery, and wellness are within everyone’s reach. Special Olympics Florida provides year-round sports training and competition to children and adults with intellectual disabilities, at no cost to the athlete or their caregiver, as a means to achieve physical fitness, self-esteem, socialization skills, and the life skills necessary to be a productive, respected and contributing members of their communities. Founded by the late Eunice Kennedy Shriver, Special Olympics is the world’s largest program of sports training and athletic competition for children and adults with intellectual disabilities, serving 3.7 million people in more than 170 countries. In Florida, 25,000 athletes train and compete year round, in 20 different team and individual sports of their choice. Founded in 1972, Special Olympics Florida is a certified 501 (c)(3) not-for-profit organization funded solely through the generosity of individuals, businesses and civic groups. This support allows Special Olympics to never charge the athlete or their families a fee for participation.

Mission - Seniors First enhances the quality of life of seniors by maintaining their independence and dignity. Seniors First targets services to highly vulnerable elderly populations age 60+ and disabled adults age 18-59, including the very old, people living alone, people below or near the poverty line, minority populations, and individuals with significant health conditions or mental impairments. The specific vulnerabilities include physical frailty, sensory decline, low education level, cognitive decline, lack of transportation, low social support and depression, which often require extensive intervention and advocacy. Central Florida seniors deserve our best efforts. Together we have the unique opportunity to enhance a senior’s quality of life by continuing to promote choice, independence, and positive aging. Our core programs are Nutrition Services, which include Meals On Wheels and Congregate Meals, supporting the nutritional needs of seniors and providing socialization opportunities. The Home Improvement program provides home repair and weatherization to low-income seniors. Other services include Guardianship for incapacitated adults, Transportation support for Congregate Meals, and Stepping Stone Medical Equipment Bank. Under the In-Home Care program, case managers assist clients with care plans which may include the following services: homemaker, personal care, companionship, respite, adult day care, emergency response, home modification/accessibility, medical supplies, and nutritional counseling. Our mission would never be accomplished without the support of our committed volunteers, the oversight and guidance given by the dedicated Board of Directors and the generosity of our funders, donors, staff, and caring community. The purpose of the Early Learning Coalition of Seminole (ELC), now in its 19th year, is to invest in the future of our community, by investing in the lives of our children through the provision of quality early education and child care. By providing families with financial assistance for child care, we help to educate the next generation, which translates to higher employment and self-sufficiency for Seminole County families. In addition, we help all families with locating child care providers based on their needs, preference and available resources. We also offer developmental screenings to make sure children are reaching appropriate milestones as well as free vision and hearing screenings for children aged 0-4. Research has proven that early childhood education is essential for a child’s development of critical skills and provides a foundation for future success. We aim to improve opportunity and reduce stress on parents by offering affordable child care, which allows them to better contribute to the community while strengthening the life trajectory of the next generation. Through our partnerships with local agencies, we are able to fulfill our purpose by providing additional early intervention services such as trainings and evaluations for child care teachers and guidance for caregivers on locating early intervention resources. Providing these resources helps to alleviate the need for more expensive interventions later in a child’s life and save taxpayer dollars while boosting the local economy. Accessibility Services Inc., or sometimes called ASI, is the leading provider in assistive technology and door automation throughout the state of Florida. Some of our clients include; School Districts, universities and colleges, department stores and the Veterans Administration hospitals in Florida. Our staff is trained to evaluate, install and service all of the products we represent. Whenever possible, we work with the therapists, case managers and caregivers during the evaluation process, offering our experiences and expertise to provide the client with the appropriate equipment.
