Prior to 1959, a farm was operated on the present site of The Farms Country Club. The farming was discontinued and an alternative use for the property while maintaining its natural appearance was sought. In June 1961, construction of the 18-hole golf course and clubhouse was begun. On July 4, 1962, The Farms Country Club was opened with a dedication ceremony.
