Cheyenne Village helps people with disabilities lead happy, healthy and fulfilling lives. It was founded in 1971 on the site of historic McLaughlin Lodge in Manitou Springs, CO. The first 12 clients were taught self-care, basic living, and job skills by continuing to operate the lodge along with support from Cheyenne Village staff. Cheyenne Village was the first agency to be licensed by the Colorado Department of Health and Department of Social Services. Early on, Cheyenne Village became a nationally recognized and replicated model. Today, Cheyenne Village serves over 370 individuals with developmental disabilities living all across the Pikes Peak Region in a variety of locations including; apartments, host homes and group homes. OUR GOALS: Cheyenne Village has an impact on our community by achieving the following goals: • Provide safe and affordable housing and staff support in apartments, host homes, and group homes. • Teach basic skills so individuals can live as independently as possible. • Provide transportation for medical appointments, jobs, recreation, and other activities. • Maintain or improve the health of individuals served by Cheyenne Village. • Help enrich lives by encouraging volunteer and recreational activities. • Provide services to augment existing family or caregiver support.

We provide services including Reserve & Ride Transportation, Home Delivered Meals, Meals On Wheels, Connections Café, and Senior Assistance to include our food pantry. In addition, we have Silver Key Friends Thrift Store with a Home Medical Equipment Department. Silver Key has 60 paid staff and more than 600 volunteers who provide quality services to the 60+ population of the greater Colorado Springs area. Volunteers are always needed to deliver Home Delivered Meals including Meals on Wheels, drive clients for Reserve & Ride, provide retail assistance, or help in the food pantry.

At Care and Share Food Bank, we believe that no one should go hungry. Every day, we provide food to our partner agencies across Southern Colorado to serve our neighbors in need because well-fed communities are better for us all. Care and Share exists to ensure that the one in eight Southern Coloradoans at risk of hunger have access to enough healthy and nutritious food to thrive. We know that children without adequate access to food cannot develop successfully, families cannot plan for their future, and seniors find it more difficult to remain independent.

Developmental Disability Services

Hope & Home is a provider of foster care and foster/adopt services for the State of Colorado. We find safe and loving homes for the many children in Colorado who have been abused and neglected. Each year we provide short- and long-term in-family care to hundreds of children in crisis. At any given time, over 100 families are either providing care for foster children or are in training to become licensed with us.

PEAK Parent Center believes that all children, including children with disabilities, can learn and participate in their neighborhood schools. Every day, PEAK teaches parents, students, educators, and professionals the skills they need to successfully educate students with all types of disabilities and abilities. We do this because all children deserve the chance to become contributing members of their community, which begins at school.

TESSA was established in May 1977 in response to a high rate of calls to local law enforcement from women threatened or assaulted by their partners. At the time, Domestic Violence was considered a private matter and resources were difficult to locate, if they existed at all. With assistance from within the legal and philanthropic communities TESSA emerged as an information provider and resource referral service. That initial effort has evolved into a multi-faceted agency that includes a confidential Safehouse, Victim Advocacy, Counseling and Children’s Programs, a 24/7 Safe Line, and Community Outreach and Education. Through these efforts, TESSA strives to realize our vision of a community free of personal violence for all. Fundamentally, we do three things: 1. Provide immediate safety at our confidential Safehouse for women, children, and other victims escaping abuse. 2. Empower survivors through programs and support such as Advocacy and Counseling. 3. Create a safer future through Education and Outreach to schools, businesses, and other organizations.
