Accountable for providing HR support to all union employees and management through effective communication and administration across all functions in our facilities. Under the direction of the Director of Human Resources , the HR Generalist oversees recruitment, employee development, policy/contract interpretation, legal compliance, performance management and employee and labor relations. This role is a first-line point of contact for managers and employees.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Work with managers and employees to resolve employee and labor relation issues and concerns, resolve conflicts, and provide coaching and counseling on human resources matters and conduct effective, thorough and objective investigations as needed
Partner with management to enforce progressive discipline, policy enforcement, performance improvement plans, performance management and terminations as needed
Develop and implement appropriate policies and programs for effective management of the people resources of the company. Included in this area but not limited only to the following would be programs for employee relations, affirmative action, sexual harassment, employee complaints, external education and career development.
Maintain a working knowledge of legal requirements related to day-to-day management of employees to reduce legal risks and ensure regulatory compliance with all applicable local, state, and federal laws and notify management of upcoming changes
Administer and manage performance management/reviews, job descriptions, pay changes/transfers, turnover and headcount.
Actively communicate with other departments to keep a pulse on morale, use feedback to identify key themes that develop HR programs.
Handles full life cycle recruitment, including building a talent network, interviewing candidates, managing recruitment database, checking references, and extending offers.
Implements special projects/events company-wide HR initiatives.
