Boys & Girls Clubs of San Francisco is a community-based organization, offering at-risk youth ages 6-18 high-quality programs in first-class facilities. BGCSF’s skilled and caring staff expands a child’s world through inspiration, skill building, positive adult and peer relationships, and unique experiences both at the Club and outside the Club, while making every child feel heard, understood, valued, and loved. At BGCSF, we pride ourselves on being a core institution in the San Francisco community, with more than a century of youth development experience and a proven track record of helping young people become successful adults. All staff have access to cutting-edge Learning and Development training opportunities to strengthen professional skills and create growth opportunities within the organization. We focus on youth development, leadership, and management training. Many members of our management team got their start in direct service positions or as Club kids themselves. BGCSF places an emphasis on growing our team through those who know our organization best. Our mission is to inspire and enable all young people, especially those from disadvantaged circumstances, to realize their full potential as productive, responsible and caring citizens.

Hospice of Santa Cruz County envisions a community where all people live and die with dignity. Since 1978, the organization has honored the choices of individuals and families by providing exemplary end-of-life care and grief support. As the county’s leading nonprofit provider of hospice care, the hospice program is enriched by community grief support, a children’s bereavement camp, transitional care and palliative care services, pet companion and music therapy programs, hospice care for veterans, and end-of-life education and outreach. Approximately 3,500 Santa Cruz County residents are served annually.

Instituto Familiar de la Raza remains true to the same principles on which it was founded. The circumstances and specific challenges facing the Chicano/Latino community continue to change, but our unique approach to its health and well-being of our community remains intact. Through a continuum of six responsive and robust programs for children, youth, adults, and families, IFR serves over 3,500 people a year. Employing traditional, contemporary and conventional modalities, IFR’s programs have received national recognition for our unique cultural interventions. With a competent bilingual staff that includes mental health professionals, paraprofessionals, and community health workers, IFR regularly employs this key tenet: la cultura cura/culture heals. IFR began as a small outpatient mental health clinic, and the need for La Clínica remains as urgent as it was when the organization was founded. IFR continued to grow as we recognized our ability to positively impact the Chicano/Latino community. True to our holistic view of health and wellness and in response to emerging community needs, Instituto began developing programs for children, youth, teachers and administrators, people with HIV/AIDS, and the indigenous/Maya population. For over 35 years, IFR has established a leadership role in community violence prevention, school-based mental health consultations, family programming, culturally-based integrated HIV services, and indigenous/Maya wellness programs. Viewed a whole, our programs are designed to provide a seamless continuum of health and wellness programs for Chicanos/Latinos in San Francisco. We remain committed to this mission.

Founded in 1902, San Francisco’s LightHouse for the Blind and Visually Impaired promotes the independence, equality and self-reliance of people who are blind or have low vision. We offer blindness skills training and relevant services such as access to employment, education, government, information, recreation, transportation and the environment. We also pursue the development of new technology, encourage innovation, and amplify the voices of blind individuals around the world.

Despite the overall wealth of the Bay Area, 1 in 5 of its residents lives in poverty. Children have vastly different prospects and opportunity dependent upon the zip code in which they live. An African American child Born in West Oakland can expect to die almost fifteen years earlier than a white child born in the Oakland Hills. These social determinants of health combined with adverse childhood experiences such as abuse, neglect, household dysfunction create toxic stress and chronic exposure to trauma for many children. To address these needs, East Bay Agency for Children delivers a comprehensive continuum of services focused on these three strategies. Building Resiliency We deliver intervention services that help children and families protect themselves against long term harm from chronic exposure to adversity. Aiding in Recovery We deliver intervention services that treat children exhibiting traumatic stress symptoms and emotional or behavioral disorders. Prevention We deliver services that reduce the incidence of childhood adverse experiences. East Bay Agency for Children has 68 year history providing community-based services that both serve as prevention and complementary recovery services to vulnerable children and families. EBAC brings great value in the cultural diversity and multi-language capacity of its staff, enabling successful engagement with children and families that may be otherwise disconnected. Programming is already embedded at schools, which are widely recognized as key strategic engagement locations. In terms of scale of clients served annually and breadth of service types amongst its continuum, EBAC has few rivals, providing real opportunity for transformational impact . Friends of Children with Special Needs, a 501 (c)(3) nonprofit organization, was formed in 1996 by ten Chinese-American families to support each other, share ideas, offer a hand for the newly diagnosed, and to educate the community about people with special needs. The ten families’ mission, which becomes FCSN’s mission today, is to build a community of love, hope, and respect for the special need population and this mission continues to dictate FCSN’s every move. Since 1996, FCSN has rapidly increased its membership to over 800 multi-ethnic families. FCSN now provides 44 comprehensive programs for thousands of special need individuals of all ages and their families.

JCYC is a child and youth development nonprofit organization. The mission of JCYC is to cultivate and enrich the lives of children and youth from diverse, multi-cultural communities throughout San Francisco and beyond. The organization provides a comprehensive continuum of care from preschool to college that empowers young people to realize their full potential as they grow into healthy, responsible adults. JCYC offers: Child Development Programs which foster positive social development, cultural awareness, and a solid foundation for future learning. College Access Programs which provides academic course planning, college preparation, admissions counseling and financial aid advising to thousands of students each year. Youth Development Programs which offers young people a variety of services, resources, and skill development opportunities to foster healthy lifestyles and leadership potential. Youth Workforce Programs which offers young people an opportunity to explore the workplace, develop critical skills, and increase their prospects for future careers.
