Boys & Girls Clubs of San Francisco is a community-based organization, offering at-risk youth ages 6-18 high-quality programs in first-class facilities. BGCSF’s skilled and caring staff expands a child’s world through inspiration, skill building, positive adult and peer relationships, and unique experiences both at the Club and outside the Club, while making every child feel heard, understood, valued, and loved. At BGCSF, we pride ourselves on being a core institution in the San Francisco community, with more than a century of youth development experience and a proven track record of helping young people become successful adults. All staff have access to cutting-edge Learning and Development training opportunities to strengthen professional skills and create growth opportunities within the organization. We focus on youth development, leadership, and management training. Many members of our management team got their start in direct service positions or as Club kids themselves. Established in 1985, Alameda County Community Food Bank is a fast-growing, dynamic organization at the forefront of hunger‐relief efforts in the Bay Area. As one of the most efficient, direct-impact organizations in the country, few nonprofits are as well-respected – or make such an impact on the community – than us. The Food Bank ranks among the top 2% of nonprofits nationwide by Charity Navigator and was recently voted “Best Charity in the East Bay” by East Bay Express. Instituto Familiar de la Raza remains true to the same principles on which it was founded. The circumstances and specific challenges facing the Chicano/Latino community continue to change, but our unique approach to its health and well-being of our community remains intact. Through a continuum of six responsive and robust programs for children, youth, adults, and families, IFR serves over 3,500 people a year. Employing traditional, contemporary and conventional modalities, IFR’s programs have received national recognition for our unique cultural interventions. With a competent bilingual staff that includes mental health professionals, paraprofessionals, and community health workers, IFR regularly employs this key tenet: la cultura cura/culture heals. IFR began as a small outpatient mental health clinic, and the need for La Clínica remains as urgent as it was when the organization was founded. IFR continued to grow as we recognized our ability to positively impact the Chicano/Latino community. True to our holistic view of health and wellness and in response to emerging community needs, Instituto began developing programs for children, youth, teachers and administrators, people with HIV/AIDS, and the indigenous/Maya population. For over 35 years, IFR has established a leadership role in community violence prevention, school-based mental health consultations, family programming, culturally-based integrated HIV services, and indigenous/Maya wellness programs. Viewed a whole, our programs are designed to provide a seamless continuum of health and wellness programs for Chicanos/Latinos in San Francisco. We remain committed to this mission.

The PJCC is a beneficiary of the Jewish Community Federation of San Francisco, the Peninsula, Marin, and Sonoma counties.

Founded in 1902, San Francisco’s LightHouse for the Blind and Visually Impaired promotes the independence, equality and self-reliance of people who are blind or have low vision. We offer blindness skills training and relevant services such as access to employment, education, government, information, recreation, transportation and the environment. We also pursue the development of new technology, encourage innovation, and amplify the voices of blind individuals around the world.

The following were a few of my successful projects: • Extended and debugged FRRC Tools (an in-house application) barcode scanner integration using VB.NET. • Extended (by editing/updating and debugging) company website and intranet using ASP.NET 2.0 ,C# and SQL. • Played a technical lead role in CSP to Naccrraware data migration project (CSP and Naccrraware are applications provided by different vendors for making child care referrals).

Friends of Children with Special Needs, a 501 (c)(3) nonprofit organization, was formed in 1996 by ten Chinese-American families to support each other, share ideas, offer a hand for the newly diagnosed, and to educate the community about people with special needs. The ten families’ mission, which becomes FCSN’s mission today, is to build a community of love, hope, and respect for the special need population and this mission continues to dictate FCSN’s every move. Since 1996, FCSN has rapidly increased its membership to over 800 multi-ethnic families. FCSN now provides 44 comprehensive programs for thousands of special need individuals of all ages and their families.

JCYC is a child and youth development nonprofit organization. The mission of JCYC is to cultivate and enrich the lives of children and youth from diverse, multi-cultural communities throughout San Francisco and beyond. The organization provides a comprehensive continuum of care from preschool to college that empowers young people to realize their full potential as they grow into healthy, responsible adults. JCYC offers: Child Development Programs which foster positive social development, cultural awareness, and a solid foundation for future learning. College Access Programs which provides academic course planning, college preparation, admissions counseling and financial aid advising to thousands of students each year. Youth Development Programs which offers young people a variety of services, resources, and skill development opportunities to foster healthy lifestyles and leadership potential. Youth Workforce Programs which offers young people an opportunity to explore the workplace, develop critical skills, and increase their prospects for future careers.

Rubicon’s mission is to transform East Bay communities by equipping people to break the cycle of poverty. HOW WE WORK We equip and empower our participants to develop the economic mobility to move out of poverty. No one service can address the many challenges people living in poverty face — success comes from participation and achievement in four areas: Assets, Income, Wellness, and Connections. OUR IMPACT How will we know when we have successfully broken poverty? First, we need to ask the right questions. For decades, organizations have relied on metrics that do not truly measure economic mobility. Helping a person obtain a job – even if they keep that job for years – does not guarantee that they will no longer be living in poverty. Poverty is more than a lack of money. Poverty negatively impacts health and relationships, and it is reinforced by systems of oppression that keep people and communities isolated and disenfranchised. We work with participants for up to three years. We believe that meeting the following goals will reflect meaningful progress towards achieving mobility: 1. a job that pays wages at self-sufficiency level (for example, $28,000 annually in Alameda County for a single adult) 2. savings equal to one-month’s budgeted expenses 3. ongoing healthcare coverage and a yearly physical exam 4. improved social connections through participation in community, civic or faith-based activities OUR HISTORY A nationally recognized nonprofit, Rubicon was founded in 1973. The name “Rubicon” refers to a decision from which there is no turning back – the beginning of the journey to change. Rubicon is one of just five organizations nationwide to be awarded a special federal grant to make sure parents coming out of the criminal justice system can provide financial and emotional support for their children and stay on the right side of the law.
