Delta Health Alliance was founded in 2001 to support community-based healthcare initiatives that would target critical health and wellness in the Mississippi Delta. DHA functions by coordinating the delivery of healthcare programs communities can access, providing targeted education and training to facilitate consistency across providers, and facilitating translational research to replicate evidence-based healthcare programs that work. In order to create successful communities across the Delta, DHA works closely with its partner organizations to increase adult literacy, enforce early childhood interventions, provide appropriate healthcare, and enhance workforce development. Here are a few of the challenges DHA has been helping Delta residents address. Obesity rates are higher than a third of the nation’s population. Many chronic conditions, such as diabetes and high blood pressure, are 50 percent above national average. More infants in the Delta die before they are one year old than anywhere else in the United States (as a percentage of total population). The number of health care providers serving the Delta has been shrinking while the cost of medical care and prescription drugs has been rising. The Arc of the Ozarks was formed and incorporated as a not-for-profit organization. Our mission is to support individuals with disabilities in directing their own lives as a valued members of the community. In 1959, a small group of parents recognized the need for services for children with developmental disabilities. A support network was established for these children and their families, resulting in the 1963-64 establishment of The Arc. Today, The Arc serves individuals with a variety of disabilities. Services include residential, education, training, day habilitation, therapeutic recreation, advocacy, autism services, employment, psychological counseling - generally helping these individuals live, learn and work in our community. The Arc is affiliated with the Arc of the U.S. and our programs are accredited by CARF.

Mississippi Organ Recovery Agency (MORA) is one of 58 federally designated, organ procurement organizations nationally, and works in cooperation with the Mississippi Lions Eye Bank to provide tissue recovery services for the state as well. Arkansas Enterprises for the Developmentally Disabled, Inc. (AEDD) is a charitable organization established in 1971 for the sole purpose of providing services to the developmentally disabled in Arkansas. AEDD provides pre-employment training, real work opportunities, recreational and leisure time activities, development of daily living skills, physical, occupational, speech therapy, and mental health services to adults with developmental disabilities (DD). Work services offered at an adult skills training center in Little Rock provides cost saving opportunities for businesses, while giving work opportunities and skill development to DD individuals served by AEDD. In 2002, AEDD established a Children's Learning Center that serves disabled and non-disabled children from ages birth to five. These children receive individualized services, along with a preschool curriculum. Services offered include: child care, early intervention, speech therapy, occupational therapy, physical therapy, nutrition services, and transportation. AEDD is funded by Medicaid, Developmental Disabilities Services, Special Nutrition Program, private insurance, private contributions, private pay, the United Way, and VI-B Funds.
