A survey by the Conference Board pulls back the curtain a bit on the hiring process that would-be employees are going through today, and even highlights some common HR hiring processes that can actually be negatively impacting the company in a larger sense.
The responses provide some information that may well serve as helpful benchmarking data, for example 60% of respondents were asked to take part in some kind of virtual interaction during the application/interview process, and almost a quarter of respondents had 4 or more interview rounds despite the fact that almost 50% of both applicants and managers agree than no more than 2 rounds of interviews are actually necessary.
Further, the survey results make it clear that failing to respond to applicants can have an ongoing negative impact on your recruitment process, with about 1 in 6 applicants choosing not to recommend the company to others when they had an opportunity to do so and 2% leaving a negative review on the internet.
