July 21, 2022 – Nashville, TN – Mployer Advisor Founder and CEO Brian Freeman spoke this week at “Advantage 2022 – The Voluntary Benefits Conference,” a virtual conference featuring more than 60 thought leaders and industry experts who were handpicked to discuss new innovations, market trends, and how best to serve the financial needs of employers across the nation.
Freeman had the privilege of leading the panel “Voluntary Employee Benefits that Address Mental Health Issues” alongside Christopher Genovese, Vice President of Sales at Wysa, which was moderated by John Troutman, National Director of Marketing & Business Development at Mazzitti & Sullivan EAP Services.
Freeman and Genovese addressed the growing attention surrounding mental health in the voluntary benefits space, with a specific focus on how employers can broach this topic with intention and sensitivity. The pair also discussed the need for more openness and transparency around mental health from management, CEOs, and other top leadership positions–including how this top-down approach positively impacts company culture and the workforce.
“Not only does it tear down that stigma, but it also builds trust between the employee and employer,” Freeman said. “Feeling more aligned with the people around you brings incredible, far-reaching benefits to the workplace.”
To close the discussion, Freeman placed the spotlight on the future of mental health and noted how employers, brokers, and carriers must develop long-term strategies to become more engaged and proactive over the next decade.
On the final day of the event, Anthony Waters, Senior Vice President of Strategy & Product at Mployer Advisor, also moderated a session titled “What We Know, And Don’t Know, About the Future of Voluntary Benefits” alongside Marty Traynor, a Managing Consultant and long-respected voice in the benefits space.
