After announcing that they would be laying off some 4 thousand people earlier this year, IBM has now indicated that it is their expectation that artificial intelligence will replace close to 8 thousand more jobs in the next few years.

According to CEO Arvind Krishna, IBM will slow down hiring for what he described as back office jobs over the next 12 months and that ultimately he expected AI to replace approximately 30% of those types of positions in the next few years, which would amount to a reduction of 7,800 jobs from the 26 thousand back office workers that IBM currently employs.
