Authors of a recent piece in MIT’s Sloan Review are making the case that it’s in companies’ best interest to prioritize and invest in helping employees set and achieve career goals.
Not only will employees benefit directly from the direction and opportunities made available to them, but fostering this kind of environment is a significant driver of positive outcomes at the organizational level.
The authors note that some of the best ways to create such an environment is actively providing mentoring and coaching, making training and growth experiences available, and encouraging and making possible the development of new skill sets - for both the individual’s and the organization’s mutual benefit.
