Lyra Health recently released a study of 1,000 employees and found that 90% had experienced some kind of mental health problem in the last year and 50% had discussed mental health issues at work.
Meanwhile, 76% of employees feel their manager has not been sufficiently trained or prepared to properly accommodate the mental health issues of their workers, and 53% reported they did not feel that their managers had responded with the appropriate support when mental health issues were disclosed.
Based on these findings, the authors recommend that companies invest additional resources into training managers how to better manage these kinds of issues as well as making additional mental health resources available to employees. You can read more about the survey and the author’s conclusions and recommendations here.
