In 1897, Allendale opened its doors to youth who suffered from home and family situations ill-equipped to meet their childhood needs, often including abandonment, neglect and abuse. We believe everyone deserves a healthy childhood, a caring family and a chance to learn, grow and change course. Allendale is a place where kids have the opportunity to restore their life and discover a better future. At Allendale, we believe in every kid until they can believe in themselves. Today, Allendale annually serves over 650 children and their families – with specialized focus on youth who have suffered severe relational trauma, often including physical and sexual abuse. We operate residential treatment facilities in Lake Villa and North Chicago, IL for up to 150 children and youth. These services are complimented by school programs designed for special education students ages 7-21, including programs for day-students from local communities. Our clinical program provides training and supervision on our treatment model implementation (REStArT℠) as well as oversite of treatment team and family clinical consultation, individualized/family therapy and treatment/discharge planning for each youth in our care. We serve the states of Illinois and Wisconsin, with most of our youth originating from Cook, Lake and McHenry Counties in IL and southeastern WI. Allendale operates a group home in the Waukegan community and provides specialized, regular and home-of-relative foster care in Lake, Cook, and McHenry Counties.
