Durham Academy is an independent school serving students in pre-kindergarten through grade 12 in Durham, North Carolina. Duke School was established in 1947 as a lab school for the benefit of students in the departments of psychology and education at Duke University. Duke School became independent of Duke in 1984 when a group of parents made it a nonprofit organization with the support and assistance of Terry Sanford, then president of Duke and the previous governor of North Carolina. The organization’s research, medical services, and global-response programs create an extensive network that supports divers with vital services such as injury prevention, safety, educational programs, and lifesaving evacuations. Every year, hundreds of thousands of divers worldwide look to DAN as their dive safety organization.

Sigma Xi, The Scientific Research Honor Society is the international honor society of science and engineering. The Society has nearly 100,000 members who were elected to membership based on their research achievements or potential. More than 500 Sigma Xi chapters in North America and around the world provide a supportive environment for interdisciplinary research at colleges and universities, industry research centers, and government laboratories.
