Washington County Mental Health Services (WCMHS) is designated by Vermont Statute to provide a wide variety of support and treatment opportunities for children, adolescents, families, and adults living with the challenges of mental illness, emotional and behavioral issues, and developmental disabilities. These services are both office and community-based through outreach. The range of services offered includes prevention and wellness, assessment and stabilization, and 24 hours a day, 7 days a week emergency response. WCMHS is a 501(c)3 not-for-profit Community Mental Health Center. The agency was established under this name in 1967 and proudly celebrates 50 years of serving our community. We take a flexible approach to person-centered care for citizens within Washington County and the adjacent towns of Orange, Washington and Williamstown. Guidelines for acceptance and participation in our programs are the same for everyone without regard to race, color, national origin, or religion. Our dedicated staff works to assist each individual to reach his or her goals. Within the last year, approximately 5,000 individuals (8% of the population of Washington County) benefited from the services offered by WCMHS. Five percent of these individuals participated in multiple programs offered across the agency’s divisions, receiving direct services. The remaining 3% were served through educational sessions, community forums, extended family and other non-billable services. Northeast Kingdom Human Services is a private, non-profit community mental health center that provides services in mental health, intellectual /developmental disabilities, and substance abuse/addictions. We serve individuals and families in need throughout Caledonia, Essex, and Orleans Counties. In addition, we offer outreach, consultation, and education services to our communities, schools, and businesses as we strive to promote and build a healthy and vibrant Northeast Kingdom.

Our Services: We provide comprehensive primary care services on a sliding fee scale in our offices, visits to those needing services in their homes, some school services, and care in the hospital and nursing home when necessary. Our Organization: CCFHS had its start in 1974 as a Title X Family Planning agency. In 1980, it merged with Family Health Programs, an organization which provided pre-natal and infant care. In the ensuing years additional services were added, and in 1993 CCFHS was Federally-funded and recognized as a full-service Community Health Center. In 2004, CCFHS merged with Mountain Health Services, thus expanding to 2 additional sites with 21 providers. Our Board: CCFHS is a non-profit corporation operated by a Community Board of Directors, a majority of whom are clients of the agency. Our Staff: Currently, CCFHS is staffed by Family Practice Physicians, Internists, OB-GYNs, Pediatricians, Podiatrist, Advanced Registered Nurse Practitioners, and Physician Assistants. Approximately 30% of our staff are bi-lingual (French).
