Mission The Champlain Housing Trust is a community land trust that supports strong, vital communities in northwest Vermont through the development and stewardship of permanently affordable homes and associated community assets. What We Do The Champlain Housing Trust serves the people and communities of Chittenden, Franklin and Grand Isle Counties. CHT's program activities include homebuyer education and counseling, foreclosure prevention, permanently affordable homeownership, low-interest rehab loans, affordable rentals and property management, governance services to housing cooperatives, and real estate development. Our History Burlington Community Land trust (BCLT) and Lake Champlain Housing Development Corporation (LCHDC) were each founded in 1984 with the financial support of the city of Burlington in partnership with neighboring communities and citizen groups. BCLT focused on neighborhood improvement and expanding homeownership and LCHDC focused on rental housing production. Both groups were charged with producing and maintaining permanently affordable housing - be it rental or homeownership- for low income individuals and families. By merging in 2006 they combined their strengths to form Champlain Housing Trust to comprehensively serve the affordable housing and community development needs of Chittenden, Franklin and Grand Isle Counties.

The Himalayan Cataract Project (HCP) is an independent, non-profit organization established to eradicate preventable blindness worldwide. We pursue this mission by delivering high-quality care, training local personnel and establishing world-class eye care infrastructure. The HCP was founded in 1995 by two intrepid ophthalmologists - Drs. Sanduk Ruit and Geoffrey Tabin - focused on eradicating unnecessary blindness due to cataracts in the Himalayan region. Today, HCP has expanded to provide eye care, infrastructure support and training for international populations in more than 16 countries throughout Asia and Sub-Saharan Africa, has trained eye care personnel from more than 40 countries, and has procured equipment and supplies for programs in more than 37 countries.

The mission of Lund is to help children thrive by empowering families to break cycles of poverty, addiction, and abuse. Lund offers hope and opportunity to Vermont families through education, treatment, family support, and adoption. Family is at the heart of everything we do! Our services include: -The only residential treatment program in Vermont where women can receive treatment for substance abuse and mental health issues and keep their children with them, -An education program for pregnant and parenting young women, early childhood education program, -Vermont's oldest and largest private adoption agency, reach up case management, job skills training, parenting and family education, outpatient clinical and counseling services, -Kids-A-Part a program that keeps mothers and their children connected during the mother's incarceration, transitional living services and other program that help Vermont's women and children to thrive. Lund provides programs and services through a number of nationally acclaimed public private partnerships.

Spring Lake Ranch is a residential therapeutic community located on 650 beautiful acres in Vermont's Green Mountains. We are surrounded by fields and woods, adjacent to the Appalachian Trail, and graced by the pristine serenity of Spring Lake. The Spring Lake Ranch community has a common purpose to engage in the lives of others and the life of the land; and in so doing, to engage more fully in our own lives. Spring Lake Ranch offers a uniquely relational therapeutic setting, which supports and empowers people with mental health and addiction challenges to grow and thrive. Through shared experience, meaningful work, and active participation in an accepting, diverse community, we help each person develop the confidence and skills to recover.

Committee on Temporary Shelter (COTS) is a nonprofit organization nationally recognized as a model due to the successful outcomes of our programs. COTS provides emergency shelter, support services, prevention resources, and housing for those without homes or at risk of homelessness. We Believe: In the value and dignity of every human life That housing is a fundamental human right That emergency shelter is not the solution to homelessness Since 1982 COTS has been serving people experiencing homelessness and at risk Vermont community members in Chittenden County and beyond. We have multiple shelters to meet the needs of our individuals and families, including: the Waystation, our overnight shelter; the Daystation, our daytime drop in shelter; and our Family Shelters, specifically for parents with children. But we don't stop there...we go beyond providing safe shelters for those in need. We also have a team dedicated to supporting currently or at risk individuals experiencing homelessness with finding resources available to them through state and federal programs, assistance from other local community resources, and other additional support as needed. We believe in empowering these individuals to ensure a transition out of shelter housing into long term affordable housing is attainable and sustainable.

At Spectrum, our mission is to empower teenagers, young adults, people with a history of violence, and their families to make and sustain positive changes through prevention, intervention, and life skills services. Founded in 1970, Spectrum is a nationally recognized leader in helping youth ages 12-26 and their families turn their lives around. Each year, we serve 2,000 teenagers, young adults, people with a history of violence, and their family members. Our programs include: Basic Needs and Supportive Housing: We provide necessities like a warm place to get a meal or do laundry, along with an emergency shelter and longer term transitional housing for homeless or at-risk youth and those in or aging out of foster care. Skills Programs: We offer coaching and mentoring for young people on basic life and survival skills, such as getting an education, finding and keeping a job, finding a place to live, or getting a driver’s license so that they can transition successfully to adulthood. Prevention and Intervention: Through counseling, we help young people address substance abuse, mental health issues, patterns of violence, and other critical issues that stand in the way of a happy, thriving adulthood. A mentoring program helps build the self-esteem of youth.

The Vermont Community Loan Fund creates opportunities that lead to healthy communities and financial stability for all Vermonters. VCLF is a mission-driven, community-focused alternative lender. We make loans to local businesses, community organizations & nonprofits, child care providers and developers of affordable housing who don’t qualify for a loan from a traditional lender. We combine our loans with financial consulting and business development services to make sure our borrowers have access to everything they need to succeed.
