SLTX is charged by the Texas Legislature to collect data from surplus lines insurance policies filed in Texas. To complete this task, SLTX accomplishes the following functions: *Collect surplus lines insurance policies. Surplus lines agents or brokers must report to SLTX each surplus lines policy for which Texas is the home state of the insured. SLTX aggregates policy data and provides important statistical information on the Texas surplus lines market. *Review the financial condition of surplus lines insurers. Each year, SLTX analyzes the financial state of eligible insurers, and sends the results to the Texas Department of Insurance (TDI).
